Owens now leads McAdams in Utah's 4th Congressional District

SALT LAKE CITY — Republican Burgess Owens boosted his lead over Democratic Rep. Ben McAdams in the latest 4th Congressional District results released late Thursday as ballots cast in the largely by-mail election continue to be counted.
Owens, a former NFL player, author and frequent Fox News guest, now has 2,284 votes more than McAdams, 47.99% of the vote to McAdams' 47.16%, after a second round of Utah County ballot results were released. The district includes portions of Salt Lake, Utah, Sanpete and Juab counties.

There's another problem now.

With the sweep on the table with the GA senate races, the R party fears the more combative acts and proclamations of Trump will harm our chances.

We'll see pressure on Trump to concede and stop to protect the Senate. Certainly we'll see elected Rs distance from him, as they already have.

But Trump supporters who get pissed about the lack of support will likely sit out the GA races due to anger. And there go both seats.

I don't know the best path here. If Trump fights to extreme levels and refusals, he will harm the seats chances greatly. If he doesn't fight so much, the hard core Trumpers will blame the party for lack of support and inside pressure to stop as the reason.

I'd guess Dems are favored in both and will sweep given these dynamics.

About a week ago I got into an epic political battle with a niece of mine on Facebook...she's a militant lesbian that has a history of posing stuff about racist/homophobic monsters lurking everywhere. She's all jacked up that Biden won and was posting memes that more or less describe ANY conservative as a racist nazi. I went in and asked her if that includes family members, or do we get a pass? A Biden presidency will serve to strengthen and embolden the Black Lives Matter movement. As the BLM movement increasingly makes their presence known (riots, protests, demonstrations, etc) conservative and religious types will take notice. Fearing that the BLM movement will threaten their lives and livelihoods, many folks will vote out Democratic leaders who either side with or enable BLM.

I don't disagree with his reasoning.

The big variable is amnesty. Once done, that's it. It would take a few years for those new voters to hit the books, leaving 2022 and 2024 in play, granted, but the end would be set. Though they might do an "immediate amnesty" rather than a "path amnesty" for that very reason.

Hence why the Senate is so critical. And even then many Repubs will vote for amnesty. But at least it'll take 60 votes.

Lost in all these discussions is the lay of the parties. In 30 years, we've moved from a center-right R party and center-left D party to a center R and hard left D party. And still the D basically wins. So to point to R pickups in the House and a potential souring on a Biden admin come 2022 is silly. The results of the elections have and will move further left in all scenrios.

We're just buying time.

Yesterday I was working for a young "lukewarm" kinda conservative couple. I think she voted Biden but he voted Trump. Georgia county official, vendor disagree on cause of Election Day glitch


The counties use voting machines made by Dominion Voting Systems, but the electronic poll books that experienced the glitch were made by KnowInk, a subcontractor to Dominion.
Dominion, which prepares the poll books for counties before elections, “uploaded something last night, which is not normal, and it caused a glitch,” Marcia Ridley, the elections supervisor at the Spalding County Board of Elections, told POLITICO on Election Day. That glitch prevented poll workers from using the poll books to program smart cards that the voters insert into the voting machines.

“That is something that they don’t ever do. I’ve never seen them update anything the day before the election,” Ridley said. Ridley said she did not know what the upload contained.
