Dem/media establishment fretting over Bernie taking the nomination, thinking he can't win. Exactly what establishment Repubs thought about Trump. Tells me he's more dangerous to win than thought.

But I'll take him over Klobuchar or Bloomberg, who would be hard to beat imo.

Biden in 4th and Warren and Bernie combined at 50% signals the party is hard left thoroughly. I can't see Biden or Bloomberg winning in the end given that landscape.

Judicial Watch announced that eight Iowa counties have more voter registrations than their eligible voting-age population. According to Judicial Watch’s analysis of data released by the U.S. Election Assistance Commission (EAC) in 2019 and the most recent U.S. Census Bureau’s five-year American Community Survey, eight Iowa counties are on the list of 378 counties nationwide that have more voter registrations than citizens living there who are old enough to vote, i.e., counties where registration rates exceed 100%. These 378 counties combined had about 2.5 million registrations over the 100%-registered mark. In Iowa, there are at least 18,658 “extra names” on the voting rolls in the eight counties at issue.
The chart below details the eight Iowa counties’ registration rate percentages:

Reg Rate
Total Population

Dallas County
114.8
80,864

Johnson County
107.9
114,425

Lyon County
102.5
11,475

Madison County
102.5
15,720

Poweshiek County
102.1
18,428

Dickinson County
100.9
17,000

Scott County
100.8
171,493

Warren County
100.5
48,630

“Dirty voting rolls can mean dirty elections and Iowa needs to undertake a serious effort to address its voting rolls,” said Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton.

Mayor Pete made a good showing, but you are seeing his high water mark.

Bloomberg is having a wet dream as Iowa could not have been better for him.

The big winner coming out of Iowa is Trump.

Agreed except for Bloomberg. Given somewhere between 40 and 50 for Warren and Sanders combined, I can't see those voters accepting Bloomberg. He's the Che communist (emotional, revolutionary) and she's the Xi communist (technical).

Butti and Klobuchar battle to rep the side opposed to Sanders. I'd bet Klobu v Sanders in the end.

I suspected his ending few mins, praising the history of the country and extolling its exceptionalism, would really tick off the left. They utterly trash this country, its people, its history, in their pursuit of power.

We agree on nothing and share no common values anymore. Let the civil war commence in earnest.

Carville's take on Sanders destroying the Dem party. I'd like to believe this obviously, but the same was said of Trump. We're witnessing both parties discarding the entrenched establishment duopoly that functionally conspired together in the post-Reagan years. I'm convinced the production of new socialists in pub schools and unis, coupled with still endless 3rd world immigration, is making Sanders' movement unstoppable.

Sanders would destroy the the Democratic party the same way that Trump destroyed the Republican party. Let's not forget that before Trump we had Buch, McCain and Romney as the face and future of the party and Trump destroyed their vision. Heck, Romney isn't really considered a Republican these days. The Democratic party is heading for an interior civil war at their convention and we'll know more when the battle is over. The Democrat's need their own Tea Party type movement to fix the party, and which way that goes is currently anyone's guess. Honestly the best thing that could happen to the Democratic party is they get slaughtered in the 2020 elections as it will force a self examination and solutions for everything wrong with the party. The radical left is destroying the Democratic party and the moderates need to retake control.

Here is my current prediction for the DNC Convention... It will be a brokered convention. No candidate will have enough delegate's after the first ballet at which point the Super Delegates kick in for the second ballet and that will be the end of Bernie... at this time all the Bernie Bros heads will explode and the massive melt begins when they understand their candidate was screwed again by the DNC.

I will also not be surprised if Bloomberg comes out of the convention as the Democratic candidate. I think he just might be able to buy the nomination. Bloomberg's biggest downside, which is the same one Hillary faced, and that is Bloomberg is not a likable person. Bloomberg is a total ass in person, not to mention he is old, rich, white and a billionaire.

Hard to call, but that could easily be correct.

If Biden romps on Super Tuesday due to the black vote, he'd be right back in it and would be the overwhelming choice of the superdelegates if he survives till the end. Look at the numbers for Clinton in the larger black % contests then. Just huge.

I'll predict the following:

Sanders wins NH handily. Dem establishment downplays that as a neighboring state. Super Tues, black vote goes big for Biden and he stumbles on.

My thinking changes daily. Just too many variables.

For reference, some numbers from 2016. Sanders states then I doubt would veer from him now.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20200205/1cfa67456dc7c4040a25a4aa96ccf8e6.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20200205/f53ab28de408ed3a0b1aba20bc624d0b.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20200205/7cbe524c8ed263c4bbe56e863f064046.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20200205/d75fed711f85353162ebcca3d468190c.jpg

It was a bold move, and I think the radical left members of the party have such leverage over her, she's just doing whatever she can to please them.

She knew impeachment wouldn't work, but that's what her party wanted. So she did it, following orders. It's not her fault impeachment didn't work, she did it so her crazies can't hold anything against her, she tried.

She is a slave in her party, doing whatever she has to for the Speaker position.

You put a lot of faith in the black vote... it's not going to happen as they have nothing and no one to vote for on the Democratic ticket. There is little enthusiasm to vote in the black community this time around. You will probably never see anything close to Obama numbers again in your lifetime, that was a special time among blacks, but the Democrats keep banking on it.

And yes, if Warren folds Sanders benefits the most. And when Biden packs up and goes home Bloomberg will benefit the most....

The big question is will commie Bernie select Democrat Romney as his running mate?!?

You put a lot of faith in the black vote... it's not going to happen as they have nothing and no one to vote for on the Democratic ticket. There is little enthusiasm to vote in the black community this time around. You will probably never see anything close to Obama numbers again in your lifetime, that was a special time among blacks, but the Democrats keep banking on it.

And yes, if Warren folds Sanders benefits the most. And when Biden packs up and goes home Bloomberg will benefit the most....

Contrary to my first assumption about Warren voters going to Sanders, she probably wouldn't endorse him given their dustup. That would seemingly have some weight. I'd assume she endorses Klobuchar or Butti.

There isn't a lot of recent RCP polling data for coming states. Argue Bloomberg's money, that's fine. But free media is worth as much as Bloomberg's ad budget. It's what paradoxically drove Trump to overcome Jeb's massive warchest. With the Sanders/Warren/Steyer type voters who will not accept him in the end, makes things volatile.

No one is taking Butti seriously it seems. He may very well become the consensus to end the chaos and walk away with it. Especially if he upsets Sanders in his neighbor state of NH.

Except the media has yet to give anyone anything close to the free media they gave Trump.

I also wouldn't bet against Mayor Pete right now.

If I was betting $100 today my money would go...

$50 Bloomberg
$25 Warren
$25 Mayor Pete

Where you putting your $100?

dougr

To add some more color, RCP's Iowa tally. More data than the 99% AP results floating around. Sanders and Warren higher than election night, Butti and Biden lower. Sure plays into the theme of the DNC trying to keep the more radical (seemingly) wing at bay.

94013

$100? It's getting harder. 6 months ago, it would have been:

$50 Warren
$25 Harris
$25 Biden

Now:

$35 Sanders
$35 Butti
$15 Klobu
$10 Biden
$5 Bloomberg

Sanders fundraising is still prodigious, and that's where the grassroots heart is.

But 2 days from now I'll surely bet different. Reminds me of ole Art Bell's "quickening" line. Things are changing so damn fast now.

It appears as if Obama is unofficially backing Bloomberg at the moment as he is now narrating his TV ads.

This is the same Obama that refuses to give Biden the time of day.

Obama still carries a big stick among Demo-Rats.

The DNC will cheat Sanders out of the nomination one way or another.

What was I saying about things moving quickly and odds changing every day? This is a big deal and I'd have to say Bloomberg is seriously in play if not the favorite now.

Sanders needs to have Warren out after NH, and for Biden to survive long enough to deny Bloomberg that extra 10 to 15%. Otherwise, Bloomberg v Sanders 1 on 1, with Obama backing Bloomberg, thereby taking the winds out of Sanders' anti wealth attack angle, would be fairly easy for Bloomberg.

Edit: wait, is this what you're referring to: https://thehill.com/homenews/campaign/481587-bloomberg-highlights-ties-to-obama-in-new-ad

Yes, just like Heels Up Harris claimed when she dropped out, racist Democratic voters are to blame for low Iowa caucus turn out, despite all of your candidates are ..... white. No, or couldn’t possibly have anything to do with the fact that people in Iowa don’t support any of your identity politics and socialist ideas and platforms. How can you reach out and win more of them over and wake them up? Yes, accuse them of being racist.

Klobuchar rising to 3rd, she might come into play. Biden 3rd or 4th, Warren not improving. Assuming Biden rebounds in SC with a large black vote, it could be a 3 or 4 way race, 5 if Bloomberg's strategy pays off. Which I wonder btw... he's dumping money in CA, but CA politics are quite radical now.

Klobuchar, Buttigieg and Bloomberg are all competing for the same vote at the moment, with Bloomberg being the wold card. After Super Tuesday things will be a lot more clear, but I'm still betting on a brokered convention... and waiting to see how the Democrat's screw Bernie out of the nomination... but I'm still betting on a brokered convention

Given that a compromise candidate might have to emerge (as opposed to one of the front runners getting the nod), Klobuchar would seem to me to be it. Acceptable to enough, while Bloomberg would not be acceptable to Sanders, Warren has made herself into a fool, Steyer is a buffoon, etc, in my thinking. Other also-rans are too small in stature: Bennett, Yang, Harris, Booker.

edit: and since CA and its delegate haul are going to be important. These polls aren't terribly recent, but they do indicate a large radical wing in the combined Sanders/Warren vote.

Re: Bloomberg audio. From a speech at the Aspen Institute, where he asked for the video to be kept secret. Someone leaked the audio. Like Romney's 47% comment. His flip and apology tour for "stop and frisk" were known commodities, but nothing like hearing his thoughts on minorities straight from the mouth to undo it.

"Ninety-five percent of murders- murderers and murder victims fit one M.O. You can just take a description, Xerox it, and pass it out to all the cops," he said. "They are male, minorities, 16-25. That's true in New York, that's true in virtually every city (inaudible). And that's where the real crime is."

I don't see how he can expect minority voters to come out for him in big numbers. Of course the Dem machine will try to explain it away if he's nominated. But turnout will be key, and flipping GA in particular and a handful of other states will depend on a high black vote.

Clearly Dem oppo research, presumably Sanders, Warren camps. I can't see the Dem hierarchy wanting this suppressing the minority vote in the general.

Klobuchar and Butti gain.

https://www.breitbart.com/politics/2020/02/11/mike-bloomberg-police-stop-whites-too-much-minorities-too-little/

"One newspaper and one news service, they just keep saying, ‘Oh it’s a disproportionate percentage of a particular ethnic group’ being targeted by the city’s stop-and-frisk policies. That may be, but it’s not a disproportionate percentage of those who witnesses and victims describe as committing the murder. In that case, incidentally, I think we disproportionately stop whites too much and minorities too little."

I been telling you, Biden is done, stick a fork in him. The former VP can't even get 10% of the vote in NH. If Biden doesn't get out of the race before Super Tuesday he will hand the nomination to Sanders.

Buttigieg, Klobucher and Biden are splitting up the moderate vote and it will only get worse when Bloomberg starts drinking from the same faucet. A couple of these guys need to drop out.

Although the ideology is different, this is exactly how Trump won the GOP. Multiple establishment candidate's stayed in the race much to long fragmenting the vote and allowing the radical (Trump) to win.

The longer Biden stays in the race the better for Sanders. I think Creepy Joe will hang around until at least Super Tuesday and by then it will be to late for anyone to stop Bernie's momentum.

Biden greeted with the chant of ‘Drop out, Joe!’ at his big bucks fundraiser.

https://www.foxnews.com/politics/biden-faces-nyc-protesters-chanting-drop-out-joe

FWIW - I think Trump prefers to face Sanders in the general and I think he most fears Bloomberg. The reason I believe Trump most fears Bloomberg at the moment is that is who he tweets about the most.

It looks to me like it's coming down to bernie and bloomberg.

Without bloomberg, the race would be over.

bidens voters(both of em) will go bloomberg and warrens to bernie.

Theres going to have to be some malarkey to get bloomberg the nomination

but thats in the dems wheelhouse.

I see mini mike buying his way to the nomination.

^ It's a Bloomberg ploy to try to unite the anti-Sanders segment of the party. It doesn't have to be true, can be denied along the way, but generates some momentum.

The attack by Warren calling him a racist for his comments about redlining is extraordinary. I don't see how the Sanders-Warren wing can possibly accept him as the nominee.

Sure looks like it sucks to be a Dem right now. So damn pathetic a billionaire card carrying member of the liberal illuminate had to jump in as an act of desperation.

I reckon the liberal floor mopping will be comparable to Reagan/Mondale or Nixon/McGovern. Not so sure about getting back the House, as we’d need to win a lot of seats...perhaps to many.

With this new year, there were four things I’ve been looking forward to witnessing...the impeachment debacle falling on its face, the Trump SOTU bitchslap, the coming catastrophe of the DNC and finally the election itself...just to gleefully watch the TDS meltdown all over again.

So so far so good!

Bloomberg's basic message will be:

I'm a billionaire businessman and won't wreck the economy, but I'm a "progressive" on guns, drugs, gays, min wage, trade, and international relations, and will behave normal as prez. Basically the little bit of good from Trump while correcting all the bad.

Add $2 billion in warchest, and another 2, 5, 10 billion in free media support-- seriously hard to beat.

Go Bernie.

bloomberg, winning the rust belt and flyover country...

“I could teach anybody, even the people in this room” to be a farmer, he said, calling agriculture “a process.”
“You dig a hole, you put a seed in, you put dirt on top, add water, up comes the corn,” he said.
He spoke similarly of factory jobs as mechanical repetition requiring no brain power.
“You put the piece of metal in the lathe, you turn the crank in the direction of the arrow, and you can have a job,” he continued.

These aren't Bloomberg gaffes as much as they're the thinking of an ultra elitist. Tucker's comments were spot on about this, as usual.

https://www.foxnews.com/media/tucker-carlson-bloomberg-cynical-political-campaign

"Without even pausing,*Bloomberg grovels... and attacks his own legacy. Why do you do that? Because, he doesn't care. Whatever, they're only words," Carlson said. "He'll do whatever it takes. Now, they say politicians are ethically flexible. Of course they are, but this is different. There's something ominous about it."

"Bloomberg can seamlessly change his core beliefs because he doesn't think his beliefs are relevant to the outcome of this race," Carlson added. "Only his wealth matters."

I heard a conservative talking head muse that Michelle Obama might emerge as the brokered nominee.

I think that's possible, though I'm sticking with Klobuchar being the brokered pick.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20200219/6914a81c69fd33030f0225327eec2c35.jpg

If you want real odds here is the current Vegas betting line... these are the guys actually putting their money where their mouth is and have no political bias... They pretty much have Bernie signed sealed and delivered....

To read the odds a +110 means if you bet $100 you will make a $110 profit (collect $210 at the window. Your bet plus your profit).

Just as I have.... Vegas has written Biden off as a $100 bet wins you $1000 profit. Warren is also in free fall...

Vegas thinks is going to be Sanders against Bloomberg with Buttigieg as a dark horse. And I think they are pretty much spot on if we were voting today. Remember betting odds are a snapshot in time and are always changing. When you place a bet you get the odds posted at the time of your bet. If you had of bet $100 on Bernie last month your profit would have be $215 if he won.

Vegas doesn't give Klobuchar a snowballs chance in hell....

Vegas does have "Micheal" Obama on the board and you can bet on "it" to win. A $100 bet would win you $10,000.

^^^What this tells me is that it's going to be Bloomberg vs. Trump this Fall because I don't think there's any way this country will ever consider a blatant socialist for president...at least not now. Not to mention...the DNC will find a way to put a torpedo broadside to the S.S. Sanders in due time...just like they did in 2016.

Another indicator that points to Bloomberg is that Trump tweets about Bloomberg frequently. This means he's watching him closely, and plotting for the eventual showdown later this year.

I think Trump fears Bloomberg the most.... but I just don't see how the DNC will be able to screw Bernie out of the nomination again this year if he is still on top after Super Tuesday. if they do the Bernie Bros and liberal wing will burn the Democratic party to the ground.

Right now I'm just watching and curious to see how the DNC will try to screw Bernie.... because you just know they are going to try....

And I'm hoping like hell Bernie wins the Democratic nomination... as there is no way in hell this country will elect a socialist..... at least not for several more years....

What were you saying? Sorry, lost track.

If it goes brokered, I don't recall if delegates can be pledged/given by a candidate cutting a deal, or if they're released and free to vote with a candidate's voting advice only. That detail might weigh on the outcome.

So I'm reading that superdelegates do not vote on the first ballot. After the first ballot, all delegates become free.

That would seem to weigh initially for Sanders, superdels not counted. But after that, the other 60% to 70% of dels could easily deny him.

The DNC has delegates and super delegates.... I believe their rules and voting power are different. I could be wrong.

I know super delegates don't come into play unless it goes to a second vote. It was the super delegates that hosed Bernie last time and why the rules were changed so they couldn't vote until round two.

The DNC is a private Corporation that will put into the game whom ever they deem in their best interest. To me the 2016 election pretty much proved that to be the case. Sad that a private corporation gets to rule our government... well 2 of them actually. The difference to me is that the RNC chickened out on letting the public know they were in control and allowed us to vote in Trump... whom they hated at the time but now make out as their great accomplishment.

It also bothers me that our taxes pay millions to put on the elections (including primaries) knowing that the private coporation involved could effectively nullify the results if they don't as planned - i.e. Bernie torpedo. Bring on the Super Delagates! leak hard to overcome issues, whatever it takes to sway (bend) the public to their will. It's their candidate, not yours...

https://apple.news/AOkUtFgN7QIqOh3qeL5fmMg

And they are non profit and tax exempt.

dougrz

^ That's really interesting. On one hand I agree, parties are private, and that's why I oppose open primaries. Groups have a right to have their own rules. But on the other hand, they literally could nullify a vote. In which case voting could become literally irrelevant.

Home late, watching some outtakes. Warren really damaged Bloomberg with that exchange. Bloomberg had some good lines about Sanders and communism and being a millionaire socialist with three homes. But it just seems to me Bloomberg is a poor candidate in the flesh, especially since ads had made him out to be such a grand figure the last month, and doubly especially since he's running in the modern hard left Dem party.

Overall: Trump won
Of Dems: Bernie held serve, Warren positive a bit, Bloomberg damaged, all others neutral. Which is a Bernie win since the non-Bernie vote remains split 3 or 4 ways. Bernie might top 30% in NV. If he then takes SC, he'll do well on Super Tuesday and might walk to an easy plurality.

As for the convention, the fact superdelegates don't vote on the first ballot, then on the 2nd ballot superdelegates vote and all other regular delegates are freely released, that makes a truly "brokered" convention unlikely. Brokered meaning deals between candidates. It'll be "brokered" light, going past the first ballot potentially.

Candidates cannot tie their delegate votes to anyone. They can only endorse. Absolutely no telling where delegates would end up voting. Most are just party activists who wanted a ticket to a convention and committed early to a candidate. No telling if they still actually want that candidate even now. They're people too and can change their minds. That's assuming the D process is like the R process I went through with a gf trying to become a delegate in 2012. It was early in the year at a state convention meeting well before Iowa even. So many things change in the months long process.
