It's really sad, but those are really the sentiments that a wide portion of the left have adopted. They would prefer to see America absolutely decimated so long as they can pin it on Trump. To them, that would be a major victory.

You know that if the tables were turned and some restaurant owner kicked some patron out on the curb because they were Democrat there would be rioting in the streets.
Good on Sarah Sanders for keeping her cool and dealing with it with class.

Oh yeah - if Loretta Lynch got told to leave there would be mass looting and rioting in the streets. Every major network would be broadcasting images of cars being flipped over, and storefronts getting broken into. It would be the Watts riots all over again.

I didn't bitch when that the christian bakery refusing to sell to same sex couple, the only thing I question was someone in pretty high authority going public about it. Sure its her right to and glad she handled the exit gracefully but that resturant is toast. Unbelievable.Yeah, pretty gnarly. I've distrusted the mass media since the Bush/Gore election and what a freaking circus that was. This mid-term is going to be the extremely pivotal. I'm hopeful that the Right is going to prevail...because if the Dems win out then it proves that Trump was a fluke, and having whackos like Sanders and Pocahontas calling the shots means we're done for.
Can you imagine these violent freaks actually taking control of Congress? For anyone clamoring for a "third party"...I'd say let's replace the Democrat one to start. It's deteriorated to a carcass. I think the media and the Dems are going nuts because they're getting their asses kicked all over the place. Their power is severely weakened. It's going to be an ugly summer...
November, man. That's the big one.

Big difference though, I don't see Sanders turning this into a Supreme Court ordeal like the gays wanting the cake, going through all sorts of appeals to see if it's constitutional or not.
We all know the restaurant had a right to ask her to leave. But not everybody thinks the baker had the same right. It's a blaring double standard.

Cute chart, but even from that source, the devil is in the details. Some telling quotes from the article (CAPS my emphasis):
"...the [Bureau of Economic Analysis] keeps the names and sums of corporations repatriating confidential..."
"While it is not crystal clear how the lion’s share of funds returning to the U.S. will be used, pro-growth economists HOPE it will be used for hiring, boosting wages and other moves that will benefit the American worker and eventually TRICKLE DOWN to the broader economy."
"the last time repatriation funds saw a notable spike was in 2005, following passage the year before of the American Jobs Creation Act, which offered a tax holiday, among other tax benefits, under President George W. Bush. Yet, Mark Zandi, chief economist at Moody’s Analytics, tells FOX Business, at that time the benefit to the economy was MINIMAL and will likely be the same this time around. 'The repatriated cash will go to MORE STOCK REPURCHASES, dividend increases, and paying for mergers and acquisitions. All of this has no significant impact on the economy' he said."
Regarding stock repurchases, this article just came out today that backs that observation:
Stock buybacks set new record in first quarter of 2018 (http://www.news-gazette.com/news/2018-06-26/stock-buybacks-set-new-record-first-quarter-2018.html)

Bottom line--these companies(that saved billions in taxes) have hired the entire available US workforce.
With no workers available, the price to keep good help has gone up, dramatically.
If ones wages haven't gone up, one might want to look in the mirror as to why.
The repatriated cash is TAXED, albeit at a lower level.
Simple math tells us, tax on something contributes more than tax on nothing.
Apple alone--will be paying 38 Billion in taxes in the near future on repatriated money.
They will be INVESTING 350Billion in the US economy.
AND--I'm all for rewarding shareholders, they are the backbone that holds up every tradeable company.
I hear no crying when the same shareholders, who take large risks, lose billions.
So, glenn, in your words--what is the downside here, for America?
oldno7
06-26-2018, 10:39 AM
And--by the way--of the 305 Billion that has already been repatriated, YTD, has created 46 Billion in tax revenue.
I see where this might be a concern----if your a democrat:roflol:

Also why would you want to support and enrich a company that hates you, that's called stupid where I come from.
One big advantage individuals have is the ability to support with their pocketbooks. I always try to support companies that support my values.

I'd like to disagree with you just on general principle, but I have to agree with this one. Serve who you want to serve and I will shop where I want to shop. easy peasy. And on that note, can we please allow car dealers in Utah to be open on Sunday?

Yep. The way I always heard it from dealers I knew was that it wasn't always the case, but Larry Miller wanted to live his religion a little better and not open on Sunday, but couldn't stomach losing a sale or two, so helped usher a law that only allows dealers to be open 6 days a week. Technically, that doesn't have to be a Sunday, but in Utah that is the day that makes the most business sense to close.
devo_stevo
06-26-2018, 03:17 PM
I'm not too surprised. Some of the stuff those people make up is crazy. I put this in the same category of useless laws that should be gone along with the one that prevents Tesla from selling cars in Utah just because they sell directly to the customer rather than through "authorized dealers".

Iceaxe
06-26-2018, 04:40 PM
And on that note, can we please allow car dealers in Utah to be open on Sunday?
Is it a law or a gentlemen's agreement?
I worked in motorcycle shops in the 70's and we closed on Sunday. It was a gentlemen's agreement made by all the Utah dealers.
The reasoning was if everyone closed on Sunday no one gained and advantage. It was cheaper for the dealers as they only had to pay expenses and wages for 6 days a week and gave key dealer employees a guaranteed day off with the family. Pretty much a win/win as long as everyone joined the party.
Iceaxe
06-26-2018, 04:43 PM
Just looked and it's a law.... but... it was a law asked for and endorsed by the Utah Car Dealers for the reasons I mentioned above.
Apparently it was a gentlemen's agreement at one time but they couldn't control themselves and asked for it to become law.

Purely for attention. It's just like the gay couple trying to get married in Kentucky a few years, remember? That clerk wouldn't do it, but others would, but they kept requesting to be served only by her so they would force her to do it and nobody else. Oh the things true love will make you do.
And then as time went on we all learned that they weren't even from Kentucky, that that had crossed state lines, seeking out that specific office to get the marriage certificate.
Same shit as the baker, they sought him out, passed up other bakers just to make a show out of it. And the drama queens bought it all hook line and sinker.

I agree with you on the baker but not the KY clerk. Private business and government jobs aren't the same. Gay marriage was the law of the land and her job required her to issue the license. Whatever the motives of the applicants didn't matter. If she didn't want to do it (or allow another in the office to) she should have just resigned. I believe you are incorrect in thinking that others in the office offered to grant the license. If I remember correctly she was the clerk and wouldn't allow anyone else to sign it.
I did like this gem from Mike Huckabee, “When you deny one person’s liberty because you don’t like what they say or what they do or what they think, then we all are losing our liberty," Nice words. Too bad they come from a guy who has spent his entire life fighting to deny liberty to an entire class of people.

This! I did not vote for the Trump in the primary but did in the general and largely because of how despicable Hillary was and the potential for the Supreme Court seat. The selection of Neil was a phenomenal pick and if he's able to put someone else on there that is even remotely of the caliber of Gorsuch then we are truly going to see a constitution protecting, conservative leaning court for the rest of my life. Like Shane said above I can only image what horrors we'd be facing right now if these two picks had been left/liberal judges.

Pretty simple really....
The deal is the left really has nothing else to hang their hat on. The economy is good, unemployment is at record lows, wages are going up, world conflict is at a relative low....
Russia didn't work, porn star didn't work, Muslim's didn't work, race card didn't work... it's just the next item on the list.
....the left can not come out and say Trump is doing a good job and they have to attack Trump over something or lose big in the next election.

My grandma was obsessed with tabloid magazines. She had them all over her house, and I'd always sit, drink coffee and thumb thru them. This was in the 80s and early 90s. I remember reading a lot about "The Donald", along with all kinds of celebrity gossip.
Anyway, it was such sensational bullshit. I always considered it as low class journalism...like the bottom feeder gutter crap. The lowest stuff on the totem pole.
It has occurred to me that kind of "journalism" is now ruling the roost. It's even worse, actually. Crazy huh? The Democrat Party and their liberal mass media sycophants both hit the skids in tandem. I'm not buying this "America is being torn apart" narrative, either. I really believe there isn't nearly a hundred million gnarled out, pissed off people out there. Wasn't Obama just the black version of Jimmy Carter? Both had many of the same leadership flaws, the biggest being they tried to please everyone and in the end pleased no one.
Something else kind of interesting is there are a lot of parallels between Trump and Reagan. Reagan was also despised by both sides of the "establishment".

I'd say that's because Reagan was a REAL leader. Both sides want a prez that they can push around. Nobody's pushing Trump around.
Obama was just a member of a committee. Bush truly was a nimrod, so was his dad. Clinton was a corrupt mobster. Quite the menagerie, eh?
Looks like Mexico is about to elect another corrupt leftist.

Purely for attention. It's just like the gay couple trying to get married in Kentucky a few years, remember? That clerk wouldn't do it.
as deputy attorney general rosenstein recently pointed out in a speech ....
The rule of law is one of the primary reasons for America’s prosperity. It protects people from arbitrary government action. It allows businesses to enter into enforceable contracts. And it establishes an objective mechanism to resolve disputes.
Justice Anthony Kennedy explained it this way: in a rule of law system, when you apply to a government clerk for a permit and you satisfy the objective criteria, you are not asking the clerk to do you a favor. You are entitled to the permit, and it is the clerk’s duty to give it to you. In many countries, that concept of a government bound by law to serve the people does not exist.

Here's a tidbit that has not been reported much about Sanders' ban from the Red Hen. After she left the restaurant and went home, her family left but decided to go to another restaurant. The owner of the Red Hen didn't stop at kicking them out. She FOLLOWED the family to the next restaurant and gathered a crowd to continue harassing Sanders' family. Despicable.
This would be comparing the baker if he asked the gay couple to leave (which he didn't), followed them to the next baker and continued to harrass them and build a crowd trying to stop any baker from making a cake for this couple.
Taking the high road, right?
Have you ever wondered where the gay couple ended up getting a cake from? Any curiosity as to why the more "tolerant" baker has not been celebrated and promoted?
It's ok to refuse service to anybody, for whatever reason you like. But it's not ok to follow them and harass the next business into doing the same.
You know what's funny? Sanders' in laws don't like Trump, so they had to sit there and be framed as Trump fans while being protested. Sometimes people can go FULL RETARD and it gets buried.

How are you supposed to defend a bunch of countries, including Germany, from Russia when they are also giving Russia billions of dollars a year and are depending on them for their energy needs. It doesn't make sense. Of course this will be seen as him being a bully and a jerk. He obviously doesn't want to be friends and play nice, right? Maybe, just maybe, he wants to help them out? Not from a melodramtic liberal
Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator John McCain (R-AZ), Chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee, released the following statement today on President Trump’s meeting and press conference with Vladimir Putin in Helsinki:
“Today’s press conference in Helsinki was one of the most disgraceful performances by an American president in memory. The damage inflicted by President Trump’s naiveté, egotism, false equivalence, and sympathy for autocrats is difficult to calculate. But it is clear that the summit in Helsinki was a tragic mistake.
“President Trump proved not only unable, but unwilling to stand up to Putin. He and Putin seemed to be speaking from the same script as the president made a conscious choice to defend a tyrant against the fair questions of a free press, and to grant Putin an uncontested platform to spew propaganda and lies to the world.
“It is tempting to describe the press conference as a pathetic rout – as an illustration of the perils of under-preparation and inexperience. But these were not the errant tweets of a novice politician. These were the deliberate choices of a president who seems determined to realize his delusions of a warm relationship with Putin’s regime without any regard for the true nature of his rule, his violent disregard for the sovereignty of his neighbors, his complicity in the slaughter of the Syrian people, his violation of international treaties, and his assault on democratic institutions throughout the world.
“Coming close on the heels of President Trump’s bombastic and erratic conduct towards our closest friends and allies in Brussels and Britain, today’s press conference marks a recent low point in the history of the American Presidency. That the president was attended in Helsinki by a team of competent and patriotic advisors makes his blunders and capitulations all the more painful and inexplicable.
“No prior president has ever abased himself more abjectly before a tyrant. Not only did President Trump fail to speak the truth about an adversary; but speaking for America to the world, our president failed to defend all that makes us who we are—a republic of free people dedicated to the cause of liberty at home and abroad. American presidents must be the champions of that cause if it is to succeed. Americans are waiting and hoping for President Trump to embrace that sacred responsibility. One can only hope they are not waiting totally in vain.”

So Trump has basically being sinking an unending number of 3-point shots from half court since the day he was elected, but in Helsinki he rim's out a free-throw and liberals, the main stream media and the never Trumpers want his head.... who would have ever guessed.
The only thing I'm actually surprised about is that Romney hasn't jumped on his high horse to circle the court a couple of times.
McCain has had a special hatred of Trump since the day Trump said he prefers his hero don't get captured. McCain has done an extreme amount of damage to the GOP because of his blind rage against Trump. McCain is one of the Senator's that seems to have forgotten he works for the people, or maybe it's just the brain cancer. Either way he can't be out of here soon enough.

November boys and girls...this is all about the next Congress.
I'll be voting Republican right down the friggin' line. If they take even more control I'll just be over the moon. If they just barley hold on to power, that'll be OK, too.
If they lose to the Dems, then at least we got all those judges out of Trump...including SCOTUS. Also, they idiocy of the Dems was put on full display...the media exposed for what it is. American oligarchy lit up with a spotlight.
So, my chances are two out of three that I'll be very satisfied...and even the third possibility 'aint the end of the world.

A lot could change between now and November.... but to date the only thing the Democrats have done is rearrange the deck chairs on the Titanic.
And so far I'm still sticking with my November predictions. GOP keeps the House and picks up anywhere from 2 to 5 seats in the Senate.
This latest abolish ICE fiasco isn't going to play well with Joe Sixpack as over 70% of the country wants border security.

I've said in the past I'm attracted to Sarah Huckabee Sanders (I have a thing for bigger girls) but I feel for her, basically having to cover the nonsense, off the cuff statements he thinks are facts in his mind. Like how does one come to the conclusion that Russia is no longer targeting the US with cyber attacks? Putin said Russia isn't?Well, then it must be true....
President Donald Trump said Wednesday that Russia is no longer targeting the United States with cyber attacks, a conclusion that is at odds with the one repeatedly asserted by Trump's own intelligence services. During a meeting of his Cabinet on Wednesday, Trump was asked by a pool reporter whether Russia is still "targeting" the United States. "No," said the president.
Later, White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders told reporters that Trump was saying "no" to more questions, and not answering the specific question about Russia. Trump did keep talking to reporters at the Cabinet meeting, however. He repeated his claim that no other president had been as tough on Russia as he has. "I think President Putin knows that better than anybody, certainly a lot better than the media," Trump said.

I've read a lot about JFK. In my opinion, that guy was practically a Neo-con. Those that complained that Obama wasn't left enough seem be filling his void...so you might be right about Clinton, too.
20 years, eh? Maybe, as the magic trick they pulled on everyone with Obama won't happen again. Folks aren't going to swallow the media bullshit anymore. It's hard to see conservatives voting en mass for a Democrat anytime soon.
It all distilling down to Capitalism vs. Socialism...the final battle? We may actually be living something historically significant for America right now.
But then again, Reagan said the left will never stop. Political irrelevance is certainly possible, though...at least for a while.

President Trump praises Mormon settlers on Pioneer Day
“Melania and I send our best wishes to all those celebrating Pioneer Day. On this day in 1847, Brigham Young and the first group of Latter-day Saint pioneers entered the Salt Lake Valley to begin building a new home for their families.* Fleeing persecution, these families undertook a difficult journey spanning more than a thousand miles from Illinois to the Utah territory.* In the years that followed, nearly 70,000 men, women, and children charted similar paths across windswept plains and rugged mountains in search of religious freedom and a better way of life. Our Nation honors the ingenuity, industry, and unwavering commitment to faith of all those who endured frontier hardships.* These pioneers worked tirelessly to transform the arid desert landscape into a blossoming new home where their families could live in peace and prosperity.* The legacy they helped build across the American West lives on through hundreds of cities and towns that continue to thrive in the 21st century. Today, we remember the extraordinary pioneers who uprooted their lives and undertook an incredible leap of faith into the unknown.* Their stories and accomplishments are lasting reminders of the importance of religious freedom and the enduring strength and spirit of the American people.”
