Sorting gear, pre-packing what I can, making a to-do and a shopping list and it looks like snow in the forecast for Wed. Thurs. Sat. and Sun! :snowcloud:

Will be snowshoeing into 5th Water (Diamond Fork) Hot Springs on Wed. the 31st and staying until Sunday the 4th of January. There will be four of us; Josh, Cody, Brad and Myself. Anyone who hikes in and mentions Bogley gets a cup a hot coffee or cocoa. :five:

EDIT: Rescinded offer; looks like we are going to change plans and head into the desert instead. You're still welcome in camp for coffee or cocoa but I'm not sure where that will be yet...

Making "tom Kha Gai" to share at freeze fest, as I seem to have perfected it! Well, there are never any left overs anyway!
I'm SOOOO excited about being outdoors for a week even if I freeze to death! It's always so warm and mild here in Cali - the weather is so boring!

Off in my little rental car tomorrow - as my "little mule" will be in the shop for at least a few weeks ~ sad, but not the end of the world.

HAPPY NEW YEAR BOGLADITES!

Must get to bed, but for now I'm sitting here listening the wind howl and the rain lash against the windows. Wind at the airport was as high as 41 knots this evening. They say it may also snow some more tonight...

We've had an incredibly harsh winter so far up here - mostly the snow, though the temps did get to -15C or so. We never get the kind of snow we've had this year, and rarely get that cold.

Hey - I thought that's where you'd be right now!

So so so so upset to be missing FF. I had planned most of the year to be there, took the time off and everything, but gave up on it after my transmission tribulations in October. I just realized; now that Brad has bailed on the FF there is no shellfish alergy to worry about and I can do something great for my turn at dinner. (Each of us is doing one, with Brad out we will get burgers tonight).
Ever heard of Frogmore Stew? Google it. Fantastic. There are variations but the basics are red potatoes, corn on the cob, spicy sausage and shrimp all cooked in one pot and served with good crusty rolls. I do mine with crab legs and scallops too. Had it in S. Carolina once while on Army OFO* time. LOVE it.

Hey Kev - I REALLY wanted to go! I put my time-off request into the workbook in August. On Friday, Dec 26, at 4pm I was notified that I could have today and Friday off - way too late to pull it all together and travel to Utah.

But, this past November, I put in my request for next years FreezeFest and I'm hoping I get approved shortly. (I got all my other 2009 vacation requests so far including the last week of April.) My fingers are crossed.

Sorry. HCG Diet.

http://www.hcgdietinfo.com/

HCG is a chemical produced in pregnant women that helps your body burn fat. Normally if you consume less than 1100 calories a day your body will burn muscle and keep the fat. The HCG allows your body to burn off old fat for energy while you eat a very specific 500 calories a day (that is an over simplified explanation). You start off with two days of binging to raise your fat levels in your blood stream to kick off your diet. You take HCG everyday (through a single short or 3 drops of hcg 3 times a day) and then you eat a very simple diet for 40 days. My mother-in-law just did it and lost 20 pounds in 40 days (and she was pretty thin before hand). My sister-in-law is huge and she has lost about 2 pounds a day for the last two weeks.

Life is a cabaret, old chum, but I'm thinking you'll want a cabernet!

Me, I'm sitting in front of the fire, reading a great book, and nursing a nasty headache. Went in to work this morning, and had a nasty slip on some ice in the parking lot. Went down hard, straight onto the back of my head. Big ol' bloody goose egg. Walked into the tower and said to call someone else in - I can't work today. Went to the airport clinic, where the doctor put in one single, cute little stitch when the bleeding just wouldn't stop.

No vision trouble, never lost consciousness, or anything. Still - better safe than sorry, so I'm taking tomorrow off - they don't like having air traffic controllers working with head injuries, for some reason.

Wow Kev. I just saw your picture, that looks painful. I will be really impressed though if you took that picture :)
Well, yeah I did, but I looked really stupid doing it! Ever taken a photo of the back of your head? Not easy! Manual focus on macro setting, flash turned down almost to its lowest setting, then the final awkward contortions required for the money shot. Took about 6 tries.

Fortunately, it feels much better, headache is gone, but the aches in my neck, shoulders and abs are pretty bad. Kind of a whiplash effect on the neck and shoulders, and the abs jolted pretty hard as I tried to soften the landing - to no avail. Anyway, a day off work today sure helped.

Stupid, stupid, stupid. Pretty dorky thing to have done...

Oh, and right now I'm multitasking: updating my blog, reading my book, having a glass of Bailout Bitter ("a bitter ale for bitter times"), and burning all my SD cards to DVD.

I did some O/T at work on Saturday and then the rest of the day at the vet's office. Turns out my younger cat has got a case of an anal gland infection. I thought it was a simple cut at first and considered putting some neosporin to take care of it but then went to see a specialist.

They cleaned it up, gave her antibiotics, fluids because she was dehydrated a bit, enema to get things going, pain killers, and a collar to keep her from licking the spot. $300 and 3 hours later I was home tending to the little one, heh. Good thing I opted out of blood works and x-ray cause that would be another $300! So pretty much I've spent the last couple of days giving her the painkillers and preventing her from licking herself, heh. :2thumbs:

Oh yeah, she's much better now: eats, drinks, poops, screams, runs around, just being her old self.

I skipped coffee this in anticipation of coffee with a coworker from another site who will be here for some work this morning. Now she just texted me saying she will be late, which will leave no time for coffee together before the work needs to be done. I guess I knew she is unreliable and should have gotten coffee earlier. Now I'm going to have to drink the sludge from the cafeteria or slip out the back and run to Beans'n Brews.
I guess if I choose Beans'n Brews I could get a donut or maybe a breakfast sandwich at Gandolfo's...

It's a blue sky weekend here. Have planned a nice easy local hike tomorrow and an all day back country hike on Sunday. WOO HOO!! All this hiking means I can eat what I want this weekend. Oh, sipping a bit of Seagram's 7 and Diet coke.

Incidentally, the Dish (with a DVR receiver purchased on eBay) will be used when camping to pick up Sat. TV!!!!)

Happy as a clam. This weekend has been productive and fun. Friday I took the kids skiing. It is the first time I have skied with Spencer in 2 years. Because they are kids and beginner skiers I can wait at the top of the hill and watch them to make sure they don't fall and then take off and make it to the bottom before they do. However.... Spencer and I raced and he kicked my ass! Wahoooooooo!!!! That boy has gorgeous form. I am a proud mama. Now I need to drag him around in the powder and see how he does. I finally have a worthy ski partner. They race this Saturday in Park City.. I will get pics and post.

The rest of the weekend I spent manically cleaning my house. Everything is spotless! I am happy and sipping a fantastic cup of coffee from my new Cuisnart Grind & Brew that Alison recommended.

Mildly annoyed.... I got up at 8:30 this morning to put in my volunteer hours doing gate duty for ski team.. had to be there at 9am unitl 2pm. The roades were shitty once you got to Mt Green. I had just turned on to trappers loop and my phone beeps, it is the person in charge of us gate keepers "the race has been cancled we will not need you today".

I can't turn around until I make it to the to of trappers where you turn to go up to Snowbasin cuz the road conditions are so crapy. But they want to know if I would like to come back at 2:30 and sit there until 3:30 to watch the gate. :ne_nau: Yes please I love driving in these conditions. Anyway I politely said no.

This weekend has been less then thrilling! On friday I dinged my car, lost my debit and drivers license. Friday night I was on a date and we stopped in Albertson's to so I could by stuff for lunch to pack for the next day at the races. This is when I discovered missing debit and ID. I can't use check cuz no ID. I was just going to leave the stuff but date graciously offers to pay. How embaressing. So I just wrote my check to him, but man I was red. Saturday we were not quiet sure if we were swimming or skiing for the ski race at PCMR. All of our ski gear is SOAKED through. But at least we had fun.

I am out of food and can't go shopping because no card to pull money from the bank and they won't take my checks without ID! At least I have enough cash to buy milk.

I think I am going to go crawl back into bed.

Last night I finished priming my basement.

The guys at Kwal's Paint suggested 5 gallons.

I went to Lowe's last night a couple of times to finish with 25 gallons.

I'm so glad the priming's done though. Once you get to that point, everything just streamlines. I've got it all cleaned up down there and hopefully next week I'll be ready for carpet.

primer boogers (and this is only 1/3rd into the process when I had to grab more primer) It was then I noticed my dust mask may not have a very good seal

Well, I used a sprayer, and that drywall just sucked it up. I used 2 coats, and it was my complete basement. 1 bedroom, 1 laundry room, 1 bathroom, and one large room.

I was on my first coat and had about half of the walls done when the bucket sucked dry.

That sprayer sure made it easy though, I originally thought of just rolling it until my neighbor volunteered to lend it to me. Rolling would have been a nightmare.

My wife had to spend the night at her mother's house because of the fumes. :haha:
