Staring at the clock and thinking it's time to go to bed soon. Long day and HUGE event at work tomorrow.

What's the huge event at work tomorrow? Do tell!!!!!! :hail2thechief:

It's a Brazilian waxing marathon. Waxing the cookie for the Cure. All proceeds go towards.............

:lol8: :lol8: :lol8: :lol8: :lol8: :lol8: :lol8:
No sorry, I'm just teasing. We have two major makeup artists coming in from out of town doing 30 minute makeovers all day long. Just lot's of chaos all day long. I'll need a damn martini or 5 by the time it's all done. :2thumbs:

Gosh guys, we are lame and old. HAHA! Casual days, going to bed early, not ironing our clothes, taking our Geritol. What's next? Either that or we sound WAY too responsible. :lol8:

I'm not old, I'm mature, heh. What is Geritol? Heck, I just got reacquainted with a HS buddy of mine who now lives in LA. We haven't seen each other since 1998 at least and we're working on a meet up. And damn the world if we come out of it on our own!

And a Playboy machine, no less. While not one of my faves, I did spend many hours playing one after getting off work when I was in high school. It was in the Handy Andy convenience store behind the restaurant where I worked. High Score? Yeah...until my friend Lundberg started an ongoing competition. We both got to be Playboy f***ng masters!

Uh, yeah...and speaking of fantasy machines, that same Lundberg character mentioned above (now living in the D.C. area) has a Bally 8-Ball deluxe in his basement. I'll tell him about your Playboy pin for sure, Deuce. Your taste is trashily impeccable :five: .

Fantasy pins i'll never own (unless I start a pinball Museum):

- Fireball
- Theater of Magic
- Addams Family
- Wizard
- Gorgar
- Lord of the Rings

I got hooked on pinball long long time ago, my aunt an uncle had a an old school poker pinball machine. I figured out how to get it to give us free games when I babysat. We played for hours!

Then in college the first time round (straight out of high school) I played more pinball then studying for tests.

As of right now there is only one pinball machine close to WSU campus. It is at The Pie. I go play at lunch at least once a month.

Thinking really, really hard about higher education. I'm seriously considering taking some university courses. Been scanning the local university's calendar, and trying to figure out stuff like how an old fart like me can apply, what sort of course load would work for me, and what sort of degree and courses I'd be interested in.

I took about a year of community college after high school, in general useless artsy-fartsy/science stuff then gave up and moved on. Later I did my Air Traffic Control training, which was like a super-concentrated post-secondary experience. 25 years after leaving college, I have a real interest in learning - which is a great motivator.

Considering a BSc program, in Biology, and possibly specializing in evolutionary biology, cell biology, developmental biology, or something else that may jump out and nab me on my way by. Of course, that's all subject to change - but this is what's interesting me right now.

*sigh* Really got the bug. I'll give the Recruitment and Advisors office a call this week, and see what they have to say...

I am calling in sick today too! Wish I was going hiking, instead just taking care of stuff you cant get done on the weekend or while you are at work. Stupid errands.

Working for two hours up here and then getting the hell out of dodge before the rest of the crew shows up.

So now I am mad that I listend to all these ninnies around me who said something was wrong. But they wouldn't leave me alone until I called the doc. I just didn't notice it before because my hand was still swollen, and now that all the swelling is gone, well it just looks funny.

Just wait til you have to actually USE your finger...therapy is SO fun!

Luckily I didn't have to do any physical therapy. And for the most part it is fine. Just looks like I have no knuckle when I make a fist. When my kids are home from grandmas tomorrow I will get Spenc to take a pic, so you can see how silly it looks.

Made lasagna and cheesecake from scratch. My husband will be proud because I've been in the kitchen for 4 hours and that makes him feel a caveman like syndrome. Oh yes and a salad with french bread will accompany the dinner. Oh and yes, lots of red wine. Maybe that's why this process is taking so long. HAHA!! :lol8:

Mmmmmmm...sounds delicious!
I wish you lived next door to me and liked to feed your neighbors!
We're eating out tonight cuz I'm too tired to cook and I still have an errand to run!

I'm off in about 10 minutes to go to the Thai market (which is three cities away) so I'll have all the proper ingredients for my gourmet cooking spree tomorrow night.

I'll be making Chicken Satay with peanut dipping sauce, coconut chicken soup with galangal and lemon grass, sticky rice & royal papaya salad!
I'm entertaining my mom and aunt tomorrow night (and I'm going hiking in the morning so I got to get this stuff tonight). They are my guinea pigs actually thought I have made the cocunut soup before and it was good ~ hope the rest of the meal comes out OK!

After picking up some sandwiches or something for the family, I'm gonna sit down with a glass of wine and watch a movie.
After 6 hours of yard work which included single-handedly tearing out about 80' of old fencing, I deserve to relax a little!

Cleaned house today, went for a lovely bike ride on BST until it started to rain just a bit. Made scallops with lemon sauce on them, and I got to eat them all because the kids are toooooooo picky!

Mmmmmm scallops in lemon sauce!
Sounds delicious to me!

Since I'm the one doin all the cooking, needing to keep myself entertained in the kitchen, I finally said "pooh" to picky eaters!
I started throwing out ideas, and asked for the same from my kids.
I started making wild and far out dishes (whichever suited our/my fancy) and if they didn't like it or it didn't turn out (which was the case sometimes), we'd just make soup and sandwiches or go grab a burger...but I really enjoy cooking much more, when I can make a varied and exotic menu.

Am I digressing? Is this allowed?

So what I'm doing right now is celebrating the fact that after a 10 mile hike today, and arriving back home much later than planned, I was still able to entertain guests with a nice exotic meal that turned out well!

It's taken a long time to get to the point where I'm this confident working with new recipes. One time I got it in my head to make an Irish stew that had me in the kitchen all damn day. Lamb stinks up the house too, and this recipe had beer in it, and my family was complaining "Oh my god, what are you cooking?" I kept reassuring them I was making a delicious stew. Well come dinner time (oh man, I wish I had a video of this) the faces of the taste-testers one by one, became the damning evidence of what was to come!

I took one bite and knew I had worked long and hard to make a damn miserable meal! What a let down!
We went and got burgers and all was well.

And what I'm doing now a few minutes later is listening to the Decemberists  and reminiscing bout meals gone right and meals gone wrong, and dreading the fact that I have to go to work tomorrow!
