Lot's of anger and aggression around here. Jeez guys. Y'all need to relax, that can't be good for you.

I've been on a kick lately where it's either the Cocteau Twins of Bjork. Trying to keep it chill and at least a little weird, but always nice to listen to.

Wore out all my CT vinyl back in the 80s - great stuff. I assume you're aware of Fraser's work w/Massive Attack?Yeah, that's all great stuff too. I haven't listened to it all, but what I have heard was very good. All of the members of the Cocteau Twins have done some wonderful solo and collaborative work with other artists.

They are one band I wish was still around today. They were strong all the way to the end. About the only thing i don't like of theirs is the rather forgettable version of Winter Wonderland they did. That's not there best work, I'll admit.

One of the greatest/weirdest albums I've ever heard. Outstanding in almost every way.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zhD5Gs4A1GMKate Bush herself just issued a proper re-master of her catalog. This album sounds magnificent. Now I have to rebuy all her albums...again! That's alright, though. I've been waiting years for this to happen.

This record always sounded terrible, and I've bought every new edition of it over the years but was always disappointed. The second half especially sounded flat...NOT ANYMORE!

It's mind blowing, just as good as the Beatles re-masters. Make sure you put this on your X-mas list...you won't be disappointed.

Also, if you're not familiar with it, Tears For Fears just re-mastered "The Hurting" and it finally sounds great, too. That's a really good album.

OMG that sounds horrible. They really need to speed things up...that is SO much slower that the album version. They look like they're about to fall asleep. Oh well, at least Kirk is still good for yet another Wah-Wah solo. Poor Lars...he's got that double bass and can't even play the thing.

Compare this to a video of them ripping thru "Blackened" in 1991. Maybe they should snort a line or two before taking the stage.

Glad I could help. They're one of those bands that I listen to a lot for a while then have to take a break, but I always come back to it.

It's music that makes you feel things. I think that's why I love it. Also, my wife and kids give me a ton of crap about it. Whiners.

If you like this you should also check out Ulrich Schnauss and Chihei Hatakeyama -- both are excellent, and have a very unique, introspective sound.

Ah, Kate Bush.

Back in the 80s, I bought her compilation of hits, which was various hit songs from her first 5 albums and I really liked it. So I did some research and it was said that The Dreaming and Hounds Of Love were her best albums, so I bought them too and they're fantastic. I was interested in collecting her discography but decided to wait until they did a proper remastering of her work...as the sound quality of the 80s and 90s era CDs was lacking.

Finally, she recently remastered everything and I bought the box set of her first 7 albums and have made a wonderful discovery...

Her album Never For Ever is by far my favorite. It's a masterpiece. Two songs from it were on the compilation disc I've had for all these years but I was unfamiliar with that album as a whole. Yes, The Dreaming and Hounds Of Love are great...but Never For Ever tops them. I love it when I hear an album for the first time and I'm just floored.

So if any of you are somewhat familiar with Kate Bush and like what you hear, definitely listen to or pick up that album if you want to explore more deeply into her music.

If you buy any of her albums, just make sure you pick the 2018 remasters...they sound excellent.

Yeah, that's pretty heavy alright. Never got into the European Black Metal...I remember listening to an album by Gorgoroth about 15 years ago and though it was the heaviest thing I'd ever heard. Real Satan worship stuff...but with time the vocal style got old.

I love screaming metal with the blast beats, shredding guitars, etc...but tend to prefer bands that are a bit more melodic. "Painkiller" by Judas Priest for example...that's good stuff.

in fact...here it is! watch (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4s1gBIVOTtk)

That was friggin' awesome. I remember when that album came out...part of the second wave of punk rock in the early 80s. They were playing Holiday In Cambodia on the radio (KROQ Los Angeles). Crazy punk gigs in Hollywood at that time. Saw the Germs and probably the gnarliest band of them all, 45 Grave. Black Flag got going around that time, too. The punk thing didn't last though...because everyone realized the girls were more plentiful in the hair metal scene. I was there and watched the whole thing happen. These two genres kinda "coexisted" for a while, then the punks just disappeared.

Anyway, that is an outstanding song from an outstanding album. U2's Zooropa. Their previous album "Achtung Baby" is considered their masterpiece...but I must say that this album is hot on its heels. Very experimental...and The Edge doesn't do that jangly guitar thing on every song. None of them, actually.

I'm a huge prog rock fan, but I never really got into Yes...their music always sounded like Disneyland on Parade to me...a bit too noodely...along with Jon Anderson's voice being to shrill to my ears. However, I own two Yes albums...Relayer and Drama.

I like Relayer primarily because Anderson does so little singing on it. Drama is great because Anderson is nowhere to be found. Here's a great song from Drama...probably the last great Prog/Rock album of the era, along with Moving Pictures, of course.

Hahaha... I never left that phase. I've seen every 80's band that was anybody at least once in concert.

I saw Dokken just before Covid-19 hit. Unfortunately the lead singer can no longer hit the notes.

I also saw Slaughter, Loverboy and Lita Ford in 2020 before Covid... all were awesome... no concerts is killing the hot young stripper wife.

FWIW - Ozzy was not/never was hair metal.

Yeah, Ozzy was hard rock/heavy metal. One of the most influential singers of all time in this era. Black Sabbath and then Ozzy Osborne’s solo career are among the best in this genre.

I bought this album when it it came out. Kix are AC/DC followers, along with Jackyl and many others.

AC/DC released “Money Talks” the year before.

The ole sing on the semi truck routine. AC/DC did it in 1976.

Jackyl in 1991. Amazing band though. AC/DC with a southern flavor mixed in.
