Beaver Mtn cave
Anybody been into the cave off the backside of Beaver Mountian ski resort. Its a pit If I remember correctly the 1st rap was about 125' free, second about 75' free and a third about 55' out of a tight horizontal squeeze. The bottom room had about a 50' wall and still felt air movement (never went up this). Curious if anyone has followed it farther......

Yes been to the cave! The thrid pit has many bones on the floor that have been flowstoned in, and some are still loose. Even from the beginning of the rappel you can look up and not see the celing. After the second pit if you drop down between a couple of boulders there is a tight crack that leads to the third room. It is very narrow but way fun, most dont go through it to the third pit becasue it is so tight and getting on rope it very tricky. Thankfully there is another way. It is a to go to the opposite end of the second pit from where you repelled in and make a 50' climb to a crack which leads to the top of the third and final pit. The third pit is just a bit shorter than the entrance pit. It is a beautiful pit with walls covered in flow stone. There is a shelf most of the way down that makes a shallow pool and it sometimes has water in it. I lead a few climbs in the room one at the bottom of the room and one from the begining of the rappel up a short distance there is nothing doable without some serious bolting beyond this third pit and even then there are no major leads! It is an amazing cave and tons of fun!So many caves so little time!

Yah, the rap into the third level thru the squeze is interesting. In fact on our first trip on of the larger guys got stuck hanging half in and out for about and hour. Hooking up hanging half way out in mid air is great. Haven't been in it for a lot of years. Was just wondering if there was anything over the flowstone wall in the last pit. Like you it looked like some serious work to get up over it. The geology of the area would lead one to believe it is deeper than the third level. We always called it the CokeBottle because of the shape of the first drop.
