I wish it was an enthusiasm election. Bongino, God love him, continues to think it's a base election. I just disagree. It's a middle electorate election that wants the Trump chaos to end.
Biden is so desperately bland and uninteresting, and is exactly the correct antidote. These posted memes ironically confirm that. There couldn't have been a better choice. Literally not one Dem pol better. It was brilliant. Unable to say anything, total stealth. Boring rallies speak, "this is not a dangerous guy, he's just dull." The complete anti-Trump in style and emotional response. Like closing the drapes and laying in bed for a few hours after an extremely hectic day. While Bernie's firebrand style would have represented a deeply unappealing and scary alternative. And Bernie rallies would have laid bare their rabidness.
The first debate confirmed the chaos narrative and sealed the result. Highly unlikely the last debate will see Trump control himself. He'll almost certainly compound the hole.
I continue to pray I'm wrong and seek out counter argument articles to keep my spirits up. But all my political experience screams Dem landslide in a Watergate-level backlash. This is 1976 squared, while 2018 was 1974. 74 foretold 76, listen to history. The 76 presidential vote was close, but the underlying Congressional vote wasn't.
2018 made this result obvious to me, even minus the virus and Floyd. Does no one remember 2018 was a crushing D win? Obliterated us everywhere on every level. With a hugely advantageous Senate map we did nothing.
In 76, Carter was bland, Biden is bland. In 76 Ford was bumbling, but specifically his Nixon pardon created a palpable divide. Likewise Trump has created a divide, but at a level we've never seen. The country in 1972 told of its dislike of McGovern and socialism like with Bernie, and yet handed that party the keys just 2 and 4 years later when McG was sidelined like Bernie was here. The parallels are striking. Then add on top the media and tech info control of today.
Showing the lack of enthusiasm for Biden as proof this won't be 2008 is correct. 2008 was an affirmative vote. 74 and 76 were negative votes. But with the same net result.
Give me a counter argument from history.
