Those are encouraging numbers. It comes down to turnout still. We know they will turn out in historic numbers, the hatred for Trump and absolute determination to vote to eliminate him is staggering. We need to exceed that.

It is that level of anger which made me believe Trump was going to have a hard time against any nominee even before the virus and Floyd. Never mind adding those 2, virus big +D and Floyd, overall, +D.

Donate money to key races in the Senate. The presidential race, money is probably less important , given 4 years of Trump dominating the news.

The article's last lines about door knocking are why I'm going to AZ. Voter contacts are the best motivators. It's a real morale booster to have a campaign worker come and encourage, and I've had hundreds say they're so happy to get a knock. I've knocked on maybe 5 or 6k doors in the last 4 elections now.

Someone said "They're not showing up at Biden events because they're all scared of Covid"...and if that's true then they are quite the miserable lot. Just yesterday the park across the street from the house I'm working on was PACKED with people...BBQ, frisbee, dogs and at least 4 different teams of Lacrosse players. Hundreds of people, not a mask in sight.

In the meantime, I listen to the radio and ABC news has an "update" every 20 minutes...it's all about Trump, TRUMP, TRUMP...every single one. They keep saying even though he doesn't look sick, he is. And then they crank up the Covid fear...more hospitalizations, more cases, MORE MORE MORE. Biden has double digit leads. It's all bullshit...designed to encourage their base not to give up.

Ah...it's going to be joyous to watch them get their asses kicked all over again. Everything they've tried has fallen flat, much to my delight. This one will have the sweetest taste yet.

Believe it or not, no. I've never had a highly hostile encounter in any year. Not this either. Many cross looks and "no thanks," but that has surprised me. Though we've never targeted solid D doors.

Just got home from giving an estimate to a long time, Jewish client of mine. Great lady, really nice but a total airhead.

She mentioned to me that crime has gone up in her neighborhood lately (it's all over here "Next Door" app) nice area, 700K houses, manicured lawns, etc...cars being stolen and broken into and burglaries. That got us talking about politics...something we've never done before.

She's voting for Biden because Trump is "mafia". I asked her if she's willing to substitute Trump for a cabal of "mystery people" and she looked at me dumbfounded. She has no clue about anything...no idea that the cops that shot Jacob Blake were there to arrest him for violating the restraining order for sexually assaulting a 15 yr. old girl...she knows nothing about Harris and doesn't care. She said the riots are Trumps fault because it happened on "his watch". Etc...etc...

I left shaking my head at the ignorance...and felt a bit yucky. Maybe that's what it is Doug...you're kinda swimming in it.

I am indeed swimming in it. Everywhere I've lived, and consequently most of my friends. So that either makes me in tune with reality, or I've been blown away by the stupidity so long that I can't see anything but it now.

I might be kinda like people emerging from dictatorships who are hesitant to talk freely for years out of conditioned fear.

Whaaa?...that one went over your head? It's not an insult, I can assure you of that.

What I mean is this...I don't have big conversations with people on a frequent basis about politics, I don't work or volunteer for any political party. My "involvement" with all this is limited to...limited conversations. It's gotten to the point with me when I say the sky is blue and they say it's purple...we're done talking. Political conversation over.

You on the other hand...you're deeply involved (swimming in it)...you hang out with people where this is the main thing, you're knocking on doors, etc...so you're right on the "front lines" so to speak, and I would imagine it could be a bit discouraging when you're looking the enemy right in the face. I just give them the finger, walk away and find other things to do.

I'm joking about that last part...but I think you know what I mean. I'm not blissfully ignorant...just blissfully uninvolved.

I took no offense, I just didn't know what you meant.

But yes, being hard core in belief for decades and very active since 2008, it is front lines fatigue maybe yes. Thousands of interactions with idiots, anti-Americans, and apathetics.
