Same set of maps I've been looking at. Not sure where I'm supposed to see a gate on page 16. The legend doesn't include a symbol for gates, just which roads are for what purpose. It doesn't show the Mill Canyon Road as being open for motorcycles or ATV's either so I wouldn't be surprised to find a gate that used to be open is now closed or an entirely new gate.
I haven't ridden that road out to Monitor and Merrimac in about 2 years. At that point, ATV's and motorcycles outnumbered bicycles by five to one.
There is a gate there now, just past the dino tracks parking area...I found out the hard way a few weekends ago

its map 17 see where 342 ends that is where the gate is. The gate is brand new. You can go around it on a mtn bike but no motorized vehicles. I do not know if there is a gate on the south side also.

A few of us will be riding the classic slick rock trail on Friday around 10 or 11 and maybe Porcupine rim later in the day? Then we'll head over to camp and see wuzz up. Maybe group hiking on Saturday would be cool? We are also planning on the pot luck on Saturday night. Fourtycal was going to give greyhair a buzz to see what he had planned. He heard from greyhair's wife that he was packing everything but the kitchen sink. :lol8:
If you want to meet at the slick rock trail head and ride Friday give a holla. I will post more details later...

A burn around Slickrock sounds good to me. Have to see if I'm still standing after that :haha: Greyhairbiker said he would meet us there.

I think because this is Moab with so many different things to do, we were just kind of leaving the activities up to individuals to organize. For example, I know that Chere, Acca and Wade want to bike. I know that Kev, myself and Scout will want to run a canyon. I know that Scout, Wade and myself want to do some geocaching, Scout is bringing a canoe......etc....so we didn't get too detailed with the organized activities. The one thing we were planning is a group dinner on Saturday night at the Goldbar campsite, let's say 6? All are welcome even if you aren't camping with the group. :2thumbs: If I hear anymore from others in the group, I will try to update the first page, first post. Can you guys firm up what everyone is wanting to do and when so we have a better idea of activities?

Leave in less the 36 hours!!
I would like to go on a good Mt Bike ride.. but that all depends. Mostly I will be doing a lot of kid friendly activities. We kind of plan things as we go or where we land. Very flexible.
I am cooking pulled pork for the big dinner on Sat. Enough to feed the masses and then some.
I am just excited to sit around a campfire and roast marshmellows and hot dogs. It has been TWO long years. I feel all giddy like a kid going to Disneyland.

I'll assume that anyone bothering to read this thread knows that Disneyland has nothing on Moab.

We will be riding the world famous slick rock trail at about 11 AM on Friday. Anybody is welcome to join us. You can rent a bike in town if you are not bringing one. Meet us in the parking lot. I'll wear my bogley garb. Should be a good time! :ride:
Man, I had a hard time being at work today (leaving as soon as i post this), but tomorrow at work is going to suck.
The boss will be gone though so maybe I'll be able to slip off early...
Packing the Jeep tonight!

Ok, so Sandflats tomorrow night, then Goldbar Friday and Saturday nights? I guess I need to read back through this thread and find those maps you posted.
I'm packing up now. I'll be leaving after work tomorrow. I still hope to leave work early but there is a project needing to be done and it's not all on my schedule. Worst case I'll be on the road by 6:30-7, best case 3 or 4.
I'm planning on canyoneering Friday morning!!!

Do your research Don!!! Really easy places to find actually. See ya hopefully earlier than later.................what canyon were you wanting to hike friday am? and what time friday am?
I'm sure I'll find camp; no worries.
Honestly; I haven't done much canyon research. And I doubt I'll have time at work tomorrow; if it's slow enough for research at work I'm out of there and on the road!
I'm down for whatever. Rock of Ages, and Granary both look pretty fun...
I'm so glad today was busy at work. I would have had a hard time sitting in my
cubicle watching the clock. Got a lot done; I'm leaving. Should be in Moab by
8. NICE!

Hey campers, I just got this photo of the camp spot, asked to post it up. :2thumbs:
I didn't get on the road as quick as I would have liked. I'm posting from my Blackberry in Price. I guess it will be sometime after 10 before I make it to camp...
Another Blackberry post; I'm in Moab checking messages, fueling up & drinking coffee. I'll be on the road soon; time to go home.
Even with the rain it was a beautiful weekend. I met some good friends and made some new friends. Thanks everyone! Drive safe. Look for photos soon!

I was very surprised!!! Didn't know who you were for a moment b/c of the dark and the fact that we drank beer all afternoon, topped off with Tequila shots. But it was so nice to see you again and to meet your hot young stripper wife! HAHA!! As a matter of fact, Chere and I were both commenting this morning on how pretty she is. Lucky dude!
