    Rabbit Ears Pass, Colorado

Headed up to Rabbit Ears Pass. We decided to get off the ski hill and see if we could find a little undamaged snow to put in a few turns. Since the wind had blown out of the east from two front range storms, all our usual east facing shots were wind ravaged and pocked with obstacles. We just stayed safe and went for low angle, well filled in snow fields. Gorgeous sunny day. Better skiing than we expected. Nice views of the Never Summer Range all day.

It was kinda nice to get away from the scratchy groomers at the area that day.
Very busy on the hill this weekend. We have one more week before the throngs start to come. Snow is needed so we can get out back and hit the side country from the ski area. One fat storm would help.
Please Ullr, give us a little.

What would you say the snow depth is up there?
Utah is a very special and unique place. There is no where else like it on earth. Please take care of it and keep the remaining wild areas in pristine condition. The world will be a better place if you do.

I'd say maybe about 24". Less in the wind exposed, deeper in the wind deposition zones. We checked a few undisturbed spots and 2 ft was pretty accurate. We be needin!!

    Thanks.

Trying to decide what to do next weekend. I was thinking Hahns Peak, but was wondering how Rabbit Ears was.

Unless we get a bunch of new, the snow depth would be a little better up north. If we do get some fresh, I'll give a report. I usually do the pass or up to Hahns Peak on Fridays. Hopin!
