A TRUE HERO.
The date was August 8, 1982. The Red Sox were playing an afternoon game at Boston's Fenway Park. Suddenly a screaming foul ball whizzed past the first base dugout and Red Sox left fielder Jim Rice heard the unmistakable sound of ball striking flesh. Looking around the corner of the dugout into the stands Rice saw 4 year old Jonathan Keane bleeding profusely from his head. Realizing in a split second that it would take several minutes for park EMT's to get to the scene, the future Hall of Famer sprang into action. Rice leaped over the railing into the stands, cradled the young fan into his arms and carried the boy into the dugout where he received immediate attention from the team's medical staff. Within just a few minutes Jonathan was rushed to the hospital where doctors credited Rice with saving the boys life. Jim Rice played the rest of the game in a blood stained uniform, a true badge of courage.

(*** Postscript: Jonathan is 41 years old now and has no memory of the incident. His only reminder is a small scar above his right eye).

^^^Are you sure that's not John Oates from "Hall and Oates"?

OMG...SO YOU COWARDS think you're tough because you jumped me?? Waited for me to be alone... in front of my own house??? I still handled all of you, left 3 of you on the ground laid out!! You're lucky I don't have any marks on my face. I have some on my arms and neck but so what!!!! I bet you didn't expect me to swing back since it was 6 against one. I might be in my alternative 30's, but I'm not too old for this! Yeah, I'm not gonna lie I was getting tired of fighting and just wanted to go back in the house, but I kept on swinging and made sure you got yours.. PUNKS!!!!! All I have to say is, you started this and I finished it.
I hate mosquitos!!

I'm painting the exterior of a house for a family I've know for a long time. She's been making me these kick ass sammies and sent me home tonight with these heat and eat chicken nachos. Nice huh?
If you have someone working for you and you think they're doing a good job, give 'em some food and they'll do even better.

LOL this reminds of those posts Acca would make of his dinner waaaaay back in this forum's infancy. Every day he'd post what's for dinner regardless of if it looked appetizing.

I don't know if it's more of a Southern "thing" or not, but we know that if you've got someone working at your home and there is food prepared, you always share! You just can't have someone smelling jambalaya cooking all afternoon and leave them drooling! Of course it helps if you're a good cook! Looks like you were given some good stuff.
Never regret anything that made you smile!

Oh yes...absolutely wonderful people. I do think it's a southern thing, or else the folks are genuinely compassionate. It's only occasionally that clients give me food. Perhaps two or three times a year.
Some folks, when you're working on the outside of their home, don't even offer the use of the bathroom. It's interesting being a house painter...you are with these people in their homes for many hours or days. People are a trip. It sure is nice to run into friendly ones.
Finished their house today...TOTALY DETAILED. They gave me a $400 tip. I'll give them a few hours free next time.Suddenly my feet are feet of mud

I just got back from a week in California. Some things I won't complain about anymore. At least not for a while, that is.
1. Traffic. We got nothing on LA and San Diego, including all points in between.
2. Homelessness. It's a problem everywhere, but it's on a whole 'nother level there.
3. Food prices. Even a cheap meal is about 20% more there than here.
4. Bad neighborhoods and creepy creepers. Pretty much all over once you get about 1/2 mile from the beaches.
At least the weather was good, and the air quality was better than we've had this summer, so there's that.
This is all of course, IMHO. I was happy to be back in Utah.
