Driving A Tesla Results In More CO2 Than A Mercedes Diesel Car, Study Finds

    Ohh-knowss....

A Tesla Model 3 is touted as a zero-emissions car by government regulators, but it actually results in more carbon dioxide than a comparable diesel-powered car, according to a recent study.
When the CO2 emissions from battery production is included, electric cars, like Teslas, are “in the best case, slightly higher than those of a diesel engine, and are otherwise much higher,” reads a release from the German think tank IFO.

There you go confusing the situation with facts again.
It's only "science" if it supports the narrative.

I like Teslas. I think they are cool cars, other than the front end of them looks like someone smeared paint thinner all over the front of a real car and melted the grill right off. But the tech that goes into them is pretty impressive.

I'd totally drive one, but I'm under no impression that I'm saving the planet by doing so.

FWIW - Tesla is not a profitable company, it never has been on a consistent basis; the only reason it's even afloat now is due to federal and state level government subsidies.

Same is true for all the Electic Vehicle's currently being built. It's being forced on car makers by the insane, unrelenting emissions and fuel economy standards which have become unrealistic, so the emissions have moved from the car's tailpipe to your local power company's exhaust stacks. By doing this the car companies get a zillion MPG so they pass the CAFE standards. Never mind that they are still using some sort of fuel, but the average dupe on the street doesn't realize that, and won't accept it when you explain it to them.

As with all government bureaucracies, they never die. Increasing mandates is how they protect their fiefdoms. Nothing new there although "the masses," as throughout history, remain clueless.

Not to mention the increased lithium mining that has occurred to make the batteries for these things. And the rather toxic waste that the dead batteries create.
