so.. if the electric car market actually takes off, we'll be able to import adequate amounts of virgin lead to manufacture the massive number of batteries required? Clean up our air and act like we did the world a favor - the need will not drop but it will now be smelted in Mexico, or some other plant that will be far more polluting than the plant we are shutting down.
And is a major war is to break out again - like WWI and WWII - will we have insufficient smelting and production capabilities for lead and other commodities that our waning manafacturing sector used to supply?

Our government continues to run amok. In the guise of clean air, global warming, etc - we continue to regulate our country to death, with neutral results, since now we have to import the same resources we regulated out of existence within the US.

Get rid of the EPA, OSHA, child labor laws, minimum wage and unions and by golly we can get all those factories and jobs back from overseas.

SO NAILED IT!! Mining companies for the last several decades have looked beyond America's borders to profit from mining gold, silver, copper, etc. This isn't because the resources are drying up here in America -- it's because the environmental regulations overseas are almost nil, not to mention the cost of labor and taxes is much less. So go ahead and keep tightening legislation on the mining industry -- all you're doing is encouraging mass pollution on a global scale....but at least it's "Not In My Back Yard."It's only "science" if it supports the narrative.

Better to do things responsibly at home than not at all and leave it to the foreign markets to do it in a completely irresponsible way, which we put ourselves out of business for trying to avoid.
