Foolin' Around & Playin' Around
On May 27th, 2015, Jason ( @goofball ) and I went and checked out Foolin’ Around and Playin’ Around. We were short on time because I had to get back to Salt Lake, so we skipped the swimmer at the bottom of Foolin’, and only did the lower portion of Playin’. Both are excellent canyons and I look forward to completing each of them.
We exited on the east side of the canyon, an easy, obvious, and recommended route. Our car-to-car time was 5 hours.
The stellar photos below are courtesy of Jason Pease. Hauling that camera bag was worth it after all!
[I'll add some photos of my own later today]

Me in the bottom of Foolin'.
Foolin'.
Daddy longlegs lurking in all of the shadows of Playin'.
Playin'.
Getting tight going up Playin'. The fisheye lens makes the canyon look roomy, but it was only about 10-11 inches wide.

good times bob !
and this canyon has the worst rappel EVER. think it was rappel 2, seen from the top in the pic of bob at the bottom of foolin'. otherwise, a totally awesome canyon. glad we had 2 good ones to do with all the pounding the area got in rains while we were there.signature

It is wider at the top if I remember correctly. Then awkwardly overhung... *foggy memory of that spot*
Certainly a rappel for me. Perhaps a downclimb for you. I've seen you do worse.
I couldn't really see what Jason was doing since I was downcanyon a bit. But it sounded like a fistfight. @goofball ?

The huge boulder that makes the drop takes its half out of the middle. i thought at first one side could be down climbed, but past the nose of the boulder the canyon flares out and i didn't like the angles for it. and the canyon slopes down steeeply but stays a deep V and i just found it awkward and annoying. i was trying to keep the rope straight all the way down as well so the pull wouldn't be complicated which maybe added to it. at any rate i am going back to dynamite that section and make that drop much less irritating just in case i go back again.
