Fall in Nine Mile Canyon
Friday - Sunday, October 25-27, 2013
The Original Trip Report on ADVENTR.CO
I left work on Friday and drove back into Utah so I could spend the weekend in Price. As I drove north on Highway 6 I pulled over to take a few photos as the sun was setting for the day.
Warm evening light usually looks good on the Book Cliffs to the east.

There were also some nice clouds to the west.

As I was making my way north, I noticed that the leaves on the cottonwood trees I was passing were bright yellow and probably at their peak of color.

Just a small hill along the road that normally wouldn't catch anyone's attention, but the light was hitting it nicely as I drove by.

A beautiful golden sunset to the west.

On Saturday, Kelly and I spent the day in Nine Mile Canyon searching for rock art and photographing the golden cottonwood trees found along the creek.

We hiked through thick sagebrush up a side canyon to find this interesting petroglyph panel. Check out the upside down buffalo carved along the crack in the wall. We also ran into a large herd of elk while hiking in this canyon.

Kelly and I under the Great Hunt Panel in Cottonwood Canyon. This was her first time here.

Circular pictographs found near the Great Hunt Panel. The reflected light from the opposite canyon wall was pretty intense.

Wish I had a ladder with me so I could have taken this shot from a higher vantage point and framed the petroglyphs better ;)

We stopped by the Big Buffalo...

We made one last stop at the awesome Owl Panel before driving back to Price for the evening.

On Sunday we stayed around Price until I headed back home in the evening, but I did find a few colorful trees around town that I took a few photos of.

Beautiful...I'll have to get there someday. What makes the hunt scene "infamous"?

Wondering the same thing. Perhaps it's infamous for being so famous or maybe because of the road re-routing done to protect it.
