Birch / Orderville 5/27/12
9 of us had a great day down Birch then exiting out orderville. No water in Birch. No water in Orderville until the first big log jam. Was a little chilly after getting wet on Sunday, the weather a little cool and a breeze was blowing up the canyon. No complaints. Skipped the first big waterfall rappel by going up canyon a little farther, only to watch a group try to pass us on the main waterfall only to almost fall via loose broken up rocks and got a pretty good cut on his leg. Ended up letting them pass only to unstick their ropes on the big rappel down into the canyon. Their gear and rigging was a little scary, but it all worked out. It was my sons first complete canyon besides Yankee, so that in itself made a good day. The narrows has very little flow. Orderville is low on water, but what is there is cold. Not worth packing a wetsuit by any means.
