I just scooped up a site in Watchman on Saturday night and I'd like to crash in the group site and BBQ on Sunday. Any details on the BBQ part as far as what to bring or how all of that usually works? This is my first Bogley Fest. Stoked!

But, I'm optimistic that it will (just) open in time.

Alison - sorry to hear that Big Worm can't come. It's been even a little touch-and-go for me. I'm passing up on a business trip to Europe and I'll have to be on a conference call Tuesday night at midnight to 2am to present to the folks overseas. I think I'll start the presentation with a photo from the day's canyon
Do we have an alternate in case it doesn't open in time? It would be a long day but maybe a peek into the barracks?

I would be happy to have you stay in my site as well but there is one possible issue. My reservation says the site is limited to 2 vehicles and 6 people. Obviously that's under the people limit, just not sure if there is some other place to park? I've never camped in Watchman CG, anyone know? Or maybe someone else from the group camping that night has room for an extra vehicle at their spot nearby? Also, is there a decent amount of tent space in these spots for more than a couple of tents? If we can figure that out, you are totally welcome, Pubalz.

Only one night and an early morning out; I doubt I'll put up a tent. I'm sure we can find a place to stash a car for a night. I'm looking forward to it!

I might come up for the BBQ. Can I hitch a ride with someone?

The gas it takes to get there what time can I get into the park without paying? after 7pm?

Chere and I are in an interesting pinch and curious as to some solutions. We will be driving in from STG to hike Subway on Sunday, pending it's opening. We have to leave our kiddos all day in STG which isn't a big deal since my oldest is 16 and they are fine to be alone. I've heard Subway is an all day hike. At what time are we starting the hike and at what time is an anticipated finish? How in the world are we going to hike all day, drive back to STG (no idea how long that takes) to get kiddos and come back to the BBQ? That sounds like a lot of work/drivetime.......suggestions? Especially after hiking all day? Am I being a weenie?

And we can aim for an early am start time. Trailhead coffee can be ready at 5 in the morning if you want to go that early...

Here is a write-up of my favorite trip through the Subway: http://www.bogley.com/forum/showthre...ubway-07-12-09

The Subway should not be rushed. You should get an early start and enjoy the experience.

Nice write up. Probably the best photo-free trip report ever. I'm ready to start at 5am now.

    Subway

Subway still closed from the top. I have a reservation for the 21st. Looks like you guys are on the 19th. I'm nervous it might not be opened by then. Anybody know if going from the bottom is worth it. How far can you go up the canyon before having to turn around?

If you have never been, going from the bottom is a very enjoyable adventure and is worth considering.

Thank you! My mind's eye sees more of that trip than any other of times I've been in Subway. I long to get back in there again. Soon, someday soon.
