Tires?
Need tires, looking at the WTB-V-raptors or the WTB-Weirwolfs. Opinions, thoughts, ideas for our kind of riding here in Utah?? Thanks again

I really like the Weirwolf on the front for just about all conditions, but the Raptors I can't speak for because I've never owned any. I really like the Kenda Nevegals on the rear (but they don't seem to last as long as I'd like) and I'm trying out a Maxxis Ignitor on the front and have heard lots of good feedback about them around here.

I have a friend that runs the weirwolf LT on the front and really likes it.
I ran the WTB Mutano Raptor Race 2.4 (more like a 2.2)for a season and it was the best tire I have ever ran. They roll fast and have good control in these dry, rocky and loose conditions. Being such a high volume tire I found I could run them at a lower pressure than other tires. When you look at it you would think its better suited for a front tire but I ran it front and rear. They make a 2.24 that would be good for a rear also.
The V raptors are chuncky and slow. They are better suited for wet and rooty areas. (Good price though.)
Like mxerhale said, I have also heard alot of good things about the Maxxis Ignitor.Still trying to get in riding shape.

I think it depends on your riding style. Are you a pure x-country rider or do you hate chugging your way to the top of the hill but love bombing down? Are you concerned about weight or don't care? I would consider myself a true, pure x-country rider. I actually LIKE riding uphill so I'm concerned about weight but I can also do the downs OK, too (we're all great riders in our own minds, aren't we?). For my Wasatch Front riding style, I haven't found a better tire than the Maxxis Crossmark. Fairly lite weight, rolls fast, corners and climbs good. I love the Kenda Nevegal for St. George and Moab but, for me, find it too heavy for my riding style along the Wasatch Front. My 2 cents.
Are we there yet?

I like the cross mark too, light and nice to lug up the hills another one of my favs is the Larsen TT and the panaracer fire xc pro.
Two wheels are better than four, keep the rubber side down.

if your into xc and want some tires that will grip great without slowing you down run a wtb mutano 2.24 in the back and a mutano 2.4 or a weirwolf 2.3 in front but it all depends on where ur riding and ur style of riding
you've got to pinn it to win it

I'm still running some Panaracer FireFC 2.4's on front and a Factory Tioga 2.3 on back with our weather the way it 's been up here but I really like the WTB Motorapidos - 2.3's. Also, Nevegals are awesome but they last me about a season so far. My two cents.
