Check out his picture of the dead cow. Swimming with that would be fun. Wasn't there a post on here once before about the cow?

Where were all you guys when I posted this http://www.bogley.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=19809 back in December, or don't any of you canyon types ever check out the Climbing and Mountaineering forum? I realize only real men venture there but I didn't think that excluded any of you guys.

the reason is simple, there aren't very many climbers on this forum... post in canyoneering, and you'll get a lot more eyes.

Probably not so much anymore. Last time I was there (March 2008) they had an official trail and signs saying park bikes here, no bikes beyond this point; etc. It didn't used to be like that.

They have completely fenced off the route down to Gemini now. Have to walk down. No bikes jeeps etc. The days of driving across the arch are over.

That's too bad. It used to be fun to drive over the arch and it made for good photos too. I've done it several times.

I guess I'm not surprised though since last time we were there (also March 2008), it was quite abused and there were about a dozen new tracks all over the place rather than the one loop they had in the past. If people would have stayed on the original road/track, it probably wouldn't have been a problem though I guess they might worry about people driving off the thing.

i think there were signs of that sort when i was there (Sept 06 or 07 - can't remember) but that didn't stop a good portion of our group from doing it...

p.s. the occasion was biking the white rim - great trip, but a support vehicle got a flat on the Shafer Trail exit - real fun!
