Yellow Cat in the snow
Yesterday I headed out and met up with Derek and his friend Jay in a TJ at Crescent Junction. Our destination was the Yellow Cat area north of Arches National Park to explore some old mines. This is an area I have wanted to explore for a while, and I was not disappointed. However, I think I will need to head back after the snow melts off, since it was difficult for us to keep track of where the trails went, and we spent a lot of time hiking ahead to figure out where we were ;) We did end up finding a few mines, plus we got to play in the snow! Here's some pics!

WOW!!!! Those are great pics man. Looks like you had a fun trip. I've been itching to go in some mines but all the ones around here in STG are gated up. Thanks for sharing.
Your safety is not my responsibility.

Don't talk unless you can improve the silence.
The trout do not rise in the cemetery, so you better do your fishing while you are still alive. SGH

Is it safe to enter the mine? How about Radon?

I always thought, Lucky Strike Mine is located in the San Rafael Swell?
Is there another one at Yellow Cat?

Look up the Parco Mine.....that was it's old name. There was a sign near the mine about how the claims in the area were purchased in 2008 by someone from Grand Junction.....and it appears he renamed them the Lucky Strike

Randy, do either vehicles have locked differentials? I have a lunch box locker in my TJ's front diff and it's scary to drive in icy/snowy conditions. It pretty much sits in the garage all winter, how did you do in the snow.
