Dual sport / sport touring tires, etc...
Just curious.. I thought I'd see:
1) what kind of mileage you are getting out of your tires,
2) What tires you are using, and
3) what percentage of road surfaces do you ride?
4) What is your ride?
Me:
1) I'm at 9500 now on the OEM Bridgestone Trailwings and they are about toasted. The rear has decent wear off-center from canyon rides, etc, but the middle of the tire is nice and flat from hwy commuting. No wear bars left, as of the last 100 miles.
2) Trailwings, but just bought a set of Metzeler Tourances based on good feedback on other forums. (attached)
3) 85% 70mph+ hwy commuting (60 miles/day), 15% canyon twisty roads and off-hwy miscellaneous, and just a smattering of dirt roads here and there (for example from Cascade Springs over the mountain down into Heber). For the near future, this should be a pretty accurate mix of my riding.
4) 07 Suzuki DL-1000, AKA V-Strom
There's a million threads on other forums about tires but it'd be nice to see what other dual-sport, or sport touring riders are riding local to Utah!
So....?

i have 2 summers on a pair of perelli scorpion mt90. not sure of the miles since the odometer is in km. (the bike is in n.z.) maybe 5000 mi +/-. 95% highway. klr 650.
the stock dunlops wore out in about 3000 miles. cheap tires. the pirellis aren't cheap but they definitely last longer. had the mt 60 and got 5000 mi. out of them. the mt90 are a little harder compound apparently and are holding up real well. roads in n.z. are more chip seal, so are more abrasive. rear tires get replaced 2 to 1 with the front. But if I agreed with you, we would both be wrong.

I'm interested in the same thing. I have a 07, 650 VSTROM
My driving %'s are a little different.....
50% in town commuting
35% highway
15% canyon twisty's
0% dirt
I currently have 7500+ miles and the tires are wearing out fast.

I run these front and rear on my GS. I ride mostly on the tarmac with a little dirt mixed in for good measure. These have been great tires for me, I have burned through several sets.

I've got this little known place that will mount up a rear Tourance for as low as $338. PM me if you want the name and address...

$338, wow that's a steal! :)
Hey Acca, what kind of mileage are you getting from the Avons? I heard that name discussed during my OEM replacement search, but didn't read a lot about them.
Todd_18, are you running the stock Trailwings right now?

You get about 5000 miles outta the rear and 7000 on the front.
