I have been a handful of times with various purposes in mind. As recently as September down to the Maze via Hans Flat, so mostly just passing through your area that time.

On foot it has been just over a decade since I hit any technical canyons right there, White Roost being the closest. Horseshoe Canyon is a great hike nearby (nearby being a relatively loose term).

How much foot/technical exploration do you plan to get into?

Foot/Technical will really depend on my wife's stamina. We intend to cover as much ground as possible.

    Sounds like an awesome time.

My original trip to the area was actually right about this same time of year. It may have been late January. Those are two of the coldest nights I ever remember spending in a tent. And I love winter and snow camping, and snow caving in the Wasatch mountains. By the looks of the weather forecast, you are in for a very similar ride this weekend. The year we were down there, there was also very little snowfall much like this year. We found the roads to be in great condition that year.

It was a good trip. We had to break snow trail for most of the ~4 hour drive in. Once on the ground, we pulled out the metal detector and covered 2 miles in every direction. Knowing this place has been combed over pretty good, we weren't expecting much. All we found was an old .22 magnum shell casing dating to 1959. Pretty remote location, but it was a fun trek in via the Jeep Gladiator.. We also hit East Angels trailhead and drove down an old desert airstrip.. kind of surreal to see a new'ish windsock and airstrip in that remote location.
