    Escalante to Halls Crossing?

Anyone know the route Mormon settlers took after 1882 to go from Escalante to Halls Crossing? I’ve read they came down Halls Creek for some ways but I can’t find information where they crossed the Escalate and where they entered Halls Creek.

I've backpacked all over the Waterpocket Fold from Deer Point all the way to the lake. Impassable country, really. There were Indians hunting up there, and Navajo herding sheep and a few cowboys poking around, but no significant routes down to Halls.

There's an old road in Hall's Creek, it even bypasses the narrows on the east side, but where it "started" I really don't know...except I think it was way up by Fruita. If those in Escalante wanted to get to Halls by heading east, I'd think they went to Boulder first and then east from there...following the route of the Burr Trail as it is now.

I know they had a road in Harris Wash, but I think it crossed the river and then terminated up in the backcountry...might have gone up near the Circle Cliffs or upper Moody Canyon but certainly didn't go over the top.

If your interest is poking around in there, take a look at the Hayduke Trail where it cuts thru.

After the pioneers abandoned the Hole In The Rock trail in 1882 I always just assumed they switched to using the Burr Trail which was in service by that time.

I remember a suwa guy, losing his truck(ford diesel)to a flash flood in Harris back then.

Same truck, prior, was seen at the Escalante river/Horse canyon junction.

Thanks for the responses. So maybe from Escalante to Halls Creek the route was down Harris, up the Escalante, up Horse Canyon, across on Burr Trail and down Halls Creek. Seems possible to go up Horse then across by Wagon Box Mesa and into Halls Creek at the bottom of Muley Twist but that’s just looking at Google Earth. If anyone knows for sure what the route was or has a historical source it would be greatly appreciated.
