Is it just me, or does it seem like the bell for MTBers use as just divided, virtue signaled, and shamed for not using one as mask wearing? And more than likely both falls on the same side of the isle?

The arguments for both seem to be the same: I use one not for my protection, but for others. If you're not using one, you're going to kill grandma.

I didn't realize there was such a hot debate about bells and mtb.

I see a lot of passive aggressive virtue signaling, and shaming on a couple FB pages. It just gets old with the constant ‘I was out riding today, and someone thanked me for having a bell’.

Face masks and MTB bells are not related in the least.

I don't wear a mask, mostly because they are a giant pain in the ass.

I do use a bell, not to save grandma, but because it makes my life easier... I get tired of hollaring "can I get by".... Or to those wearing ear buds... "yo dumbass, get the f**k out of the way."

Funny story... to the kids on the high school MTB Team I always hollar "make a hole" when they are sitting in groups blocking the trail... now I have all 200 kids on the MTB hollaring "make a hole" when they want to get through... LOL...

But, you're not shaming others who don't have one, or constanting telling everyone how much of a wonderful community steward you and others are for having one, are you?

Oh yes. I got tired of all the complaining on the mtb fb pages. I don't follow any of them anymore. But I could see the similarity. No bell. My hub is plenty noisy to warn people and so is my voice.

As far as masks go. I am pretty much wearing one anytime I go into public now. One part because I do have a healthy fear of this virus and evidence more and more supports the "asymptomatic spread" and I feel like it is Russia roulette, this virus has no rhyme or reason. Perfectly healthy persons have died from it. Or have severe side effects, or just exhausted for weeks on end, or get it don't know it and you are fine. But really no way of saying which one you will be. Lab values of a few patients I have seen make me cringe.

And one part I actually feel bad all of the work force has to wear one. I appreciate them working, and they have to wear one for their entire shift. I only have to wear it for a few minutes I am in the store. I don't believe it is full on protection in anyway. But decreases my chances on the Russian roulette wheel. If I could go around barefoot I would. But people have frowned on that for a long time.

Where is @oldno7 I feel like he is unusually quite these days.

Today masks. Tomorrow - the self contained pop up cubicle, coming to an office building near you.

Seems to me the only ones that get pissed about bells are the ones who get pissed about bells. Never had one and as long as whoever is coming up on me makes any kind of noise, I'm good.

More like MIA...I hope he didn't disappear for good. In the last several years he's never been gone more than a few weeks. Maybe he got sick of it, but I doubt that. Hopefully it's just a monster vacation.

Nah, man...Dougrz was bumming him out.

As a general rule I don't give a shit what other people do... I use a bell on a MTB as it's by far the most convenient way to get others out of your way. It works much better then anything you can hollar.

I just don't know how I'm going to handle the rejection.... I have lived my entire life to gain the respect of Tom Hanks. What am I ever going to do. I think I'll go downtown, steal TV's, burn down the city.... oh wait... never mind... I'm not a liberal...

He's on a monster vaca. Tetons, Yellowstone, etc.

Found it. Want to get Russ off the mask wearing hysteria? Just get a picture of a turtle with one of these tangled on its face, and you’ll see the mask mandates drop like flies.
