In the last few days, they're going heavy with these "new strains" that are appearing. I can't imagine they'd try another lockdown...seems to me that they're tap dancing right on the edge of playing with fire...but this disease might be like a religion to them, kinda like climate change/overpopulation. Anything goes and they may throw that down just because of stubborn ideology. I can't even imagine when we'll be able to enter a grocery store again without a mask?

In case you haven't been following the fine print... they are basically locking our borders down on January 26th.

I've been following this closely and was forced to modified my international travel plans, because getting a Covid test out in the sticks in a third world shithole is next to impossible.

What I find most amusing about this is what happened to the left and their open borders? The hypocrisy is never ending....

Yep. My son-in-law and daughter also cancelled plans to go out of the country for this same reason.

Fauci doubles down on masks, saying that we should be wearing 2 at a time now.

    Absurd....

Meanwhile in Utah, the number of positive tests dips under 1000 likely for the first time since mid October.

(In my opinion, this is still a serious virus. It is random, highly contagious, and has taken out some good people I know personally. I am still not sure the right level of reaction/ protection. The general consensus is that masks work in slowing down the spread and keeping a handle on the hospital demand. I have spoken to many in the medical profession and that is their opinion.)

Now that sounds like a lawyer talkin' right there...not a damn thing disagreeable about it. Where it goes (or has gone) from there is where it all got jacked up...not only the reality of it on the ground but also what it's done to peoples heads.

Everything about this virus was a colossal clusterf*ck IMO...if I could snap my fingers and go back to do it all again with myself dictating the orders...I would have let it run it's course. Like a wildfire, let it do it's thing and be done with it.

Instead powerful human beings are telling less powerful human beings what to do...or else.

That's what I have been advocating since day one...

....the cure has been much worse then the virus.

I also believe the government actions have been extreme, but I believe the mask thing has in fact helped. If this virus was unchecked I am confident that the death toll would have been similar to the 1918 pandemic. I know there are those who are okay with that. I am not given the advances in medicine and science. Masks would have been enough imho. The shutting down of the economy was extreme and a global disaster in and of itself.

How would you ever know? Yes, we can count the number of those killed directly by the virus... but... it's impossible to count the death and destruction associated with the virus and those caused by the ensuing lock downs.

Also what is one life worth? A thousand dollars? a million dollars? A billion dollars? Whatever your number there is a number and that number must be taken into consideration.

    YMMV

I don't think anyone knows. This is my best, sorta educated guess from talking to medical professionals, epidemiologists, and a professor (PhD.) who studies this sort of public health thing. The analysis is not the value of a single life but whether we could prevent millions of people from unnecessarily dying. I am convinced the death toll would have been significantly higher given the surety that hospitals would have been overrun, at least I believe that would have happened. Now that being said, I may be completely wrong. I'm just going on what I know and hear from not only my own conversations but the data I am fed as a school board member.

I will say that one significant casualty of this pandemic and with the current political and media fiasco is the death of truth. It seems harder and harder to distinguish what is true vs. what is political or even blatantly false. It appears that politics and the media have proved that you can in fact put lipstick on a pig and call it a supermodel. I shouldn't blame the media solely, I blame all of us for not holding the media and politicians accountable.

Spanish Flu was significantly worse than Covid. No comparison. Apples and oranges.

Spanish Flu was significantly more deadly and much more aggressive. Healthy folks would contract the Spanish Flu in the morning and be dead by nightfall -- regardless of age.

Anyone who claims Covid is as deadly or deadlier than the SF is embellishing.

Where does this Beijing Biden EO for masks cover, exactly? If I’m out on BLM, National Forest, or NPS wilderness land unmuzzled, is a federal LEO going to cite me for violating this EO if spotted?

Don’t look now, but Herr Fuaci says we have to wear 2 masks now.
