So I just returned after working on a cabin up in the mountains for 5 days. No cell range, no internet, no TV...just the music I brought and a radio. Among the stations that came in loud and clear was NPR. So I listened to it for about 5 hours each day. I figured...these people are more or less the mouthpiece of the left, so let's hear what they have to say.

So I'm listening with a bit of a sympathetic ear..."I'm a captive audience, persuade me". What I determined is that a whole bunch of people in the United States are suffering a nervous breakdown. I was listening to the "intelegensia" of the left...we got PHDs, scientists, prize winning journalists, physiologists, former and current politicians, Frank Zappa Valley Girls tryouts with degrees in Sociology, and a lot of really articulate black chicks that'r all pissed off.

The problem is, most of these people did the same thing...start off with something reasonable, and then try to beef it up with unicorn's farting rainbows bullshit...or they're overflowing with rage. EVERYONE is on the hit list...ALL white people, anything Confederate, Churchill! Even the founding fathers...ALL of them. They want the police gone, period. They want misdemeanor crimes forgiven and ignored from now on. Empty the prisons.

I'll tell you what, the blacks aren't all down with the Democrats. It seems like a lot of them realize the Dems have been screwing them over in the first place...even though the NPR "hosts" tried to convince them the police unions are too blame...oh, by the way, police unions are, and have been training grounds for White Supremacy. The Dem politicians are your advocates. The blacks know better, they don't trust anybody. They're encouraging for voting "local", and the NPR folks always tried to steer it toward Trump.

BLM has no representatives...I waited all week for someone "official", a spokesperson perhaps? There was a whole lot of people talking "for" them, but no real rep. BLM is just a slogan, and it's advocates have a very disjointed, mixed up message. Everything is driven from emotion and nothing really makes sense except anger and despair.

The one thing all these people have in common is that they look in the mirror and one way or another, see a problem. They're in full on attack mode right now. An animal that's backing into a corner will lash out...the left was just a butt in the ashtray, one hit after another, crazy canidates and the party being fractionalized...Bernie Bros screwed over again. Dems seeing it slipping away and then Covid drove them over the edge.

I was wondering what would be coming after impeachment even before it was over. I wouldn't have imagined that the liberals would go full on Kamikasi. Everything I heard was only suitable to leftist/socialists feeding on bloody red meat propaganda. Their pitiful brainiacs can't even rationalize it without a healthy dose of hate and guilt...that's no a winning formula.

We're already in a soft Civil War right now.

If Trump is re-elected we'll see that ratcheted up to full steam.

    Gonna get ugly.....

Big if. We need to plan for not. I'm seeing nothing but bad in that regard. My stalwart, confident relatives on Trump's chances are even doubtful now.

It's a quad combo now: 1, extreme anger at him. Anger is a better motivator than the reverse. 2, a segment of the pop would rather try appeasement to avoid further trouble. 3, a creeping sense among supporters that he's not articulating a defense of the nation or police well. I'm hearing from my circles. 4, enough Repub caves on renaming bases, taking down statues, and stripping police of civil protections that the enthusiasm in our base is damaged.

This leads to a surrender on our side, and a "let it burn, it's not worth it anymore" realization. We're all close to that now. As we try to enjoy anything in the culture from here on with anthem protests, lectures about our privilege, and in your face reminders of how rotten this country has been, we'll be further pushed to the let it burn realization. *We're going to see anthem booing, crowds kneeling, trash thrown on fields toward honor guards, and honor guardsmen kneeling. Mark my words.* Do you kind of hope police resign en masse to show the end result of all this? To literally let cities burn for these creeps to rot in their halls? I do, and that's one example of let it burn literally.

The soft civil war getting hot? I've come to the conclusion only if Trump wins. They'll indeed ratchet up. We will not if they win. We will blow smoke, buy guns, move to some red states, and surrender. It's not in our nature to take to the streets to do anything.

This can be dismissed as my usual pessimism, granted. But my long standing pessimism has been based on math and demographic reality. This is on top of that.

And yes, you are probably right to have me banned from the board for being Dougie Downer. Acknowledged.

    LOL -"Dougie Downer"

I don't think anything you've said is ban-worthy. Just maybe you regard the news too much? The news media are a business. They're in the business of creating shock and stirring controversy. Otherwise they don't/can't make money. So anything they say you can assume has already been ratcheted sky high. And this applies to ALL news outlets - CNN, FOX, NBC -- you name it.

I'm thinking beyond the sensationalized riots. I'm thinking about the lasting changes. Professional censuring, firings, the censorship we're seeing, historical sites vandalized. I'm listening to Dennis Prager, reading Michelle Malkin, etc.

The emerging "violence is silence" movement means something very clear: either you speak in support of us, or you are guilty. That is Soviet in practice and it's here.

If the cop in Atlanta is charged with murder? I think policing is essentially over. No one will risk stopping or investigating the routine crimes in cities. No one. It's that profound an injustice and stake in the heart of the job. Realize how serius the dangers of the BLM movement are and its resounding victories.

I just heard the story of my cousin/daughter's black hubby in the air force this morning. Unbelievable. I should type that up in a post. I don't believe these are all isolated media portrayals. I believe the media and educational system have created the monster devouring our society and the monster is indeed real. Far more damage from the Twitter mob and corporate allies than the street mob.

    Excellent article.

Our nation has always been divided on many issues, including those concerning race and policing. But today is different. There has never before been such a concerted effort to shut down dissent.

They embrace diversity but they are fundamentally intolerant, intent on scuttling the prized American tradition of free speech.

That's the main takeaway I got from listening to NPR for several days straight. They keep saying "Let's have a CONVERSATION" yet any opinion contrary to theirs is ignored or dismissed.

Theres no compromise with these people, it's a one way "conversation". The left has drawn a ragged, thick red line and it's going to be very hard to convince tens of millions to cross it. They've crawled right into bed with the anarchists, Bernie Bros, occupy this occupy that, all whites are the problem, etc...

    Not a winning formula, man.

To put it in proper perspective I'm guess most of the country has no clue why the 24th of July is celebrated in Utah.

    47 states recognize it.

Recognizing that something exists... that's the best you got? Many can also recognize a turd in a punch bowl... so what's your point? I didn't hear anyone denying its existence, but apparently 3 states do.

My point that it is mainly a small local celebration to specific areas and communities still stands.

Juneteenth is currently being used by the left in an attempt to promote their agenda... Now... Do you recognize that! If not you're an idiot.

Melania and I send our warmest greetings to all those celebrating Juneteenth, a historic day recognizing the end of slavery.

Though President Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation in 1863, news traveled slowly from Washington, D.C., to the southern states. More than two years later, on June 19, 1865, Major General Gordon Granger stood on the Ashton Villa balcony in Galveston, Texas, to deliver the belated message of the then-deceased President: all slaves were free.

Granger’s astonishing words inspired soulful festivities and emotional rejoicing. Over the years, as freedmen and freedwomen left Texas, they took Juneteenth and its meaning with them. Today, we celebrate this historic moment in 1865, as we remember our Nation’s fundamental premise that all men and women are created equal.

    O
n Juneteenth 2017, we honor the countless contributions made by African Americans to our Nation and pledge to support America's promise as the land of the free.
--President Donald Trump, June 19, 2017

Melania and I send our best wishes to those celebrating Juneteenth.

On this day in 1865, Major General Gordon Granger of the Union Army arrived in Galveston, Texas, to declare the end of the Civil War and issue a long-awaited order freeing the remaining slaves in Texas. Although President Abraham Lincoln had issued the Emancipation Proclamation more than two years earlier, the freedom of most slaves depended on the advancement of the Union Army, which brought with it enforcement of the Proclamation. In Texas,General Granger’s order was a major step in our Nation’s effort to abolish slavery forever.

This historic moment would not have been possible without the courage and sacrifice of the nearly 200,000 former enslaved and free African Americans who fought for liberty alongside more than 2 million Union servicemen. These brave individuals fought to defend the God-given rights of those unjustly held in bondage.

As a Nation, we vow to never forget the millions of African Americans who suffered the evils of slavery. Together, we honor the unbreakable spirit and countless contributions of generations of African Americans to the story of American greatness. Today and every day, we recommit ourselves to defending the self-evident truth, boldly declared by our Founding Fathers, that all people are created equal.
--President Donald Trump, June 19, 2018

Melania and I send our best wishes for a memorable celebration to all those commemorating Juneteenth.

On June 19, 1865, Major General Gordon Granger of the United States Army marched into Galveston, Texas, and issued General Order Number 3, declaring, “all slaves are free.” With this order, the message enshrined in President Abraham Lincoln’s Emancipation Proclamation of 1863 was brought to Texas, unshackling thousands of slaves who had remained in bondage. Six months later, the Thirteenth Amendment was ratified, abolishing slavery in the United States once and for all.

That joyous day in June 1865 became known as Juneteenth. For millions of African Americans, Juneteenth has served as an opportunity to celebrate the fundamental truth that all people are created equal and that liberty is a right endowed by our Creator.

Across our country, the contributions of African Americans continue to enrich every facet of American life. This Juneteenth, as we vow always to uphold the God-given rights of all Americans, we pay tribute to the indomitable spirit of African Americans.

^^^I have never heard of any of that. The first time I heard of the term "Juneteenth" was when this thread was created. I guess that makes me unwoke and uncultured.

I guess I don't spend a lot of time following what Trump says or maybe I would've heard about it sooner.

What really surprises me is that stefan apparently does like to follow Trump.

The point being is that Trump wanted to hold his first big rally on that day and some pissed of blacks (or their Jewish handlers, most likely) got bent about the date so Trump graciously changed it.

No problem...there's bigger fish to fry, eh?

So I'm eyeballing this guy that got killed in Atlanta...so the cops are supposed to ask permission before they bust out the cuffs? That's only going to lead to more violence, unless they just let them go.

This is exactly what all those advocates for "no more misdemeanors" were saying when I was listening to NPR. I'm sure they're thinking "The cops should have moved his car to the parking lot, took his keys and left him there to sleep it off. Call us for your keys when you can pass a breathalyzer".

They used to do that back in the western days, right? Throw them in a cell to "sleep it off". Now I reckon they won't throw them in a cell anymore.

If you're black, that is. Or "dark looking", or not white.

Again.... what's your point? Trump is a sharp guy so it doesn't surprise me he knows about Juneteenth.

It also still doesn't change the fact that's it's mostly a local event celebrated by a small minority of our communities.

^^^ Because AALM just doesn't have a coold ring to it, like BLM does.

It's all about whatever term the PC wheel of oppression falls on, today.

Negros < Coloreds < Blacks < African American < People of Color (more inclusive) < Blacks.

    Do you even science, bruh?
