    cannonball run record

These Guys Just Drove an E63 AMG Across America in a Record 27 Hours 25 Minutes

The Cannonball Record has been broken again.

Three guys you've probably never heard of recently broke a speed record most people don't care about—the New York to Los Angeles run referred to colloquially among aficionados as the Cannonball. Unlike most speed records and races, there's no sanctioning body or official rules. That's because setting a Cannonball record invariably involves breaking multiple traffic laws. In other words, it's illegal. But that doesn't stop people from doing it.

    Cannonball Run

Those who follow my solid wisdom and amazing advise on Facebook you might remember this post from March 21.

"I seriously wish I had a car ready to go after the Cannonball recorded, because this would be the week to do it...."

Cannonball record is shattered just five weeks after it was set. The new record is reportedly sub 26 hours, which means the average speed was over 108 mph.

    The most recent one...

Another Cannonball Record: 25 Hours, 39 Minutes from N.Y.C. to L.A.

There's a new record in Cannonball land: Drivers Arne Toman and Doug Tabbutt announced today that they completed the cross-country drive from New York City to Los Angeles in 25 hours, 39 minutes, narrowly beating a claimed "sub-26-hour" record publicized in May and besting their own record of 27 hours, 25 minutes that was announced in November 2019.

So I just finished reading the book "For The Record" by Ed Bolian detailing his setting of the Cannonball record. I found it to be an extremely interesting read. Learning and understanding what goes into a record attempt was very educational and entertaining to me.

I think every car guy will find the book a great read. If you're not a car guy you'll probably never understand the basic motivation or risk vs reward factor and just keeping muttering to yourself "why would anyone do this".

Is his YT channel for real? His story telling seems like a giant gag. Serious Q.

Read the book an you'll have a great insight into what makes Ed Bolian tick. He certainly marches to a different drummer than most.

Fascinating video about the latest record run.

On a side note, the Goldrush Rally came through town yesterday and a gray Lambo Aventador, an unidentified yellow supercar, and an orange Dodge Demon blew the doors off my Honda Accord on NB I-15 in Sp. Fork.
