My son was exposed to COVID at the end of October. He tested positive for it soon after that. I live in a house with 7 people. There is NO ROOM for us all to isolate ourselves from each other. As a result, there is no way to "quarantine" in my house. Soon, my wife got sick (low fever, body aches, sinus issues, etc.) and my two youngest kids came down with a low fever and a slight cough that lasted for a couple of days. We all got tested and my wife and 9 year old son tested positive. Everyone else, negative. Nobody else got it. We were not distancing ourselves from each other and did not wear masks around each other.

There are a bunch of other families in our neighborhood that have had similar experiences. One or two people get it, but that's it. Everybody else stays healthy and does just fine. One of these people that got it was a young lady that had Leukemia and had just finished a round of chemo and therefore had no immune system to speak of. She was practically asymptomatic and quickly fought it off.

The question I have is why are we told that if you go outside without a mask, you're going to get it or give it to someone, even if you don't have it (still trying to figure that one out). I know the answer to this, I'm just trying to share my experience. I really think this is going to go down in history as one of the greatest over reactions and public policy mistakes, worldwide, in human history. I don't think it's nearly as contagious as we've been told. I don't think that it's as deadly as we've been told.

All this to say that while I realize that it's a real disease, and yes, some people have passed away this year and it likely was a contributing factor, it is not the genocidal bogey man that we're all being sold. At this point, though, the human race has PTSD and needs a good therapist just to go back outside or attend a concert or something like that.
Your sentiments are shared by millions. Unfortunately, the issue of Coronavirus has become so politically hyperinflated that all logic and common sense have gone out the window. In other words, it is no longer a health issue -- now it's a political issue. And our society has become so tribal and polarized that we cannot see the forest of reason for the political trees.

Yep. Like I said. I think people are genuinely suffering from some form of PTSD over this. My wife's cousin hasn't visited her parents since March, when this whole thing began, and she's a wreck of a person over all this. Like really struggling emotionally and mentally. It's insane. She, and many others like her, have lost an entire year of their lives worrying about this. It's a tragedy when I think about all that we've lost as a society over something that's really not even close to as bad as we've been told.

It's really starting to bug me that the people in charge don't see this for what it is. I don't envy them, though. No matter what they do, they are going to be hated and reviled by half the people. I just wish they would start to piss off the people that want us all to stay inside for once rather than giving in to fear and panic all the time. I don't think they will though because they are surrounded all the time by people that are telling them how terrible it is and that they are murderers if they relax the rules and someone dies. So they err on the side of caution, and here we are.

This morning I went over to Canyon Collective to see how many have the balls to attend Freeze Fest in a couple weeks, as I was going to go myself.

Go over there and check out how that's gone down for yourself. Everybody walks on eggshells, of course...because that's the way it is over there...but I was happy to see a couple dudes bulldoze right over Tom when he came in to shut it down.

I did the same thing. I was contemplating going this year and it looks like Sandthrax will be a ghost town. I still may consider a Black Hole run if everything falls into place.

Hahaha.... All my posts to CC are censored so why bother visiting. I haven't visited CC in several years.

FWIW - The very first freeze fest (2001?) consisted of Ram, Tom Jones, Hank Moon and myself. Hank and I rented a room in Hanksville for $25 a night. The second morning we met up with Ram and Tom they had a large pot of water boiling and Ram was boiling his shoes so he could put them on because his shoes were frozen solid... that's probably one of the first times I realized canyoneer could squeeze a nickel and make it cry.

    Good times...

I'd say it's going to go down as greatest hoax in human history. Designed purely to extinguish a political opponent at all cost...they'll justify it by saying it had to be done. And those that don't go along with the program will be vilified.

Everything you just wrote proves it...and in all this time I have yet to meet a single person who has suffered greatly from it. I've worked for scores of people in the last 9 months and only about 4-5 told me they knew someone that got it, and not one has died. One guy went to the hospital because of heart problems. Personally, I throw on a bandana when I walk into a business, but otherwise don't "mask up" anywhere else. I'm in and out of grocery stores, the paint store, Home Depot, etc...on damn near a daily basis. I don't wash my friggin' hands all the time...only when I feel like they're dirty. I got no problems...I feel great but according to the political elites and local media the virus is swirling all around me? I don't hear people coughing and hacking.

If I "get it" I'll just eat it for lunch just like Trump did...just like those in your family, too. I'm not gonna live in fear...the people that do are sad, pathetic and weak minded IMO. I will make exception for those that are remarkably unhealthy.

Funny...they insist that we're supposed to "look out for each other" or "take care of each other"...but personally I really don't give a shit. Sink or swim and I wish all the best of luck.

That's friggin' funny, man! You've met Kelsey, right?...now there my friend is the ULTIMATE nickel squeezer! I'd met some really tight dudes before, but he took the cake. I can understand the dudes that live from one hundred dollar bill to another but he actually had some money behind him...never really could figure that out.

Great guy to hike with, but you're not going out for pizza afterwards.

I know of lots of people who have had it. So far, I have at least a dozen in-laws who have had it, two good friends, and our across-the-street neighbors both had it. And out of that bunch, only one guy went to the hospital for a few days but he had an underlying heart condition and he couldn't get enough air in his lungs. By now everybody has fully recovered.

Actually, I have a hunch that our household just recently got hit with it because about a week ago everyone came down with a pretty bad headache in addition to feeling lethargic. The last 3 - 4 days I've had additional symptoms -- dizziness, nausea, extreme fatigue, and mild body aches. But all of that cleared up in less than a week and I feel great now.

So that was it? I can't believe that was worth shutting down the entire global economy for...

My household had Covid... my wife was pretty sick for about 3 days, similar to the flu, but different. It took her about 3 weeks to get all her energy back.

I never knew I had Covid, never had any known symptoms, always felt great. The doctor said about 25% of those with Covid never know they have it.

One strange thing... for about a week I kept getting these wicked nose bleeds. Come to find out that is a common side effect for those with Covid as the virus attacks the nose membrane among other things.

    Covid = World's great Scam-Demic

FYI - If you want to know if you have had Covid donate a pint of blood at the American Red Cross. A couple days after your donation they will notify you if your blood tested positive for Covid antibodies. And if it does test positive they will hound you to donate more to help those in need :-)

It's a win-win as you get a free Covid antibodies test and they get desperately need blood. Not to mention you get to feel good about yourself for donating blood.

Works for plasma too. Plasma donations usually pay about $50 per visit, but if you have Covid antibodies you get $100.

My 3 year old got it back in June. He had no symptoms and to the best of my knowledge didn't pass it on to the rest of us. At this point I have probably known 50 people that had it, and symptoms ranged from a mild cold, to a severe flu. I think it's pretty standard that the vast majority of people will be just fine 2-6 weeks later. The problem of course is that it is quite contagious and so the rule of large numbers kicks in and you have overrunned health care systems and lots of dead elderly people. Wasn't there a regular poster here who was a MD and had a daughter that was an MD? I wonder what his opinion is on things. I agree however with most of you that it wasn't worth tanking the economy for. But the nice thing about it, is that it has sure been nice going to restaurants and never having to wait in line.

The irony of it all though is just how brutal school closures are to low income kids, and how the left doesn't seem to give 2 shits, since they have championed school closures from the beginning. It used to piss me off, but now I just try to look at the fact that my kids are getting educated while millions of their future competition are playing video games.

Sure...it's the radical right wing local government hiding the truth from you. Unbeknownst to you, they're processing the bodies into Soylent Green.

This is the latest stinking pile of dung processed by our ‘elected officials who represent us’. Democrats and Repubs- all socialists, they just disagree on how to spend other people’s money.

If Trump signs this bill, tell me again how he is protecting us from socialism.

How is this garbage supposed to help the people whose businesses were unconstitutionally closed down by big government?

Unfortunately Trump is in an impossible position. If he doesn't sign it then he'll torpedo the 900Billion bill that was recently passed that includes stimulus checks and extended unemployment benefits through the holidays. This bill has been the subject of relentless bickering between the Dems and the GOP for months, and is considered a compromise bill.

Without a doubt the bill is very heavy on the pork, but if you don't like it just know that the previous versions of it were probably much, much worse. The CARES Act bill was way more "porky" than this one is.

Personally, I think it's unfathomable considering the degree of economic armageddon we've been through, where so many small businesses have been bankrupted that the best our government can do is a one time check for $600 bucks. I mean, what's 600 bucks gonna do when the average family's bills amount to tens of thousands?

Incredible, isn't it? They can rape us unmasked and in broad daylight and suffer absolutely no consequences.

You guys seen the pictures of AOC on the cover of these fashion magazines sportin' six figure dresses? We're living in a modern day Caligula...it just blows my mind.
