HAHA well, I would be more shook if it was anywhere else but Kalifornistan, where the inmates run the asylum.

To be honest, I think this country is headed right squarely into the jaws of another Great Depression. This Covid lockdown bullshit has bankrupted over 50% of all small businesses in this country - and there's no way in hell that unemployment and economic devastation like that can hold up without having massive repercussions. But you know, maybe that's what this country needs right now - some massive event that brings people so low that there's nothing left but to unite or die. Something that shows us once and for all how ineffective our government policies are, and the catastrophic toll they have on an otherwise prosperous nation.

So, they've implemented these crowd size restrictions in a lot of places, while at the same time that many places are 'defunding the police'. How is that going to work? When someone is committing a violent crime, they send in the social workers to talk the criminal through their crisis and get them the help they need. But, if a large family gets together for a big holiday gathering, do they send in the swat team to round them up? I wouldn't put it past these liberal law makers to do just that. But hey, at least they outlawed plastic bags and straws - small victories.

So over the weekend I followed up with my in-laws who work at Cottonwood Medical Center and the Veteran's Hospital. They reiterated that the numbers reported in the media are being made to seem more ominous than they really are. They made these two important points:

1. Hospital occupancy ALWAYS goes up during Oct - Dec, even in pre-Covid times. So the fact that the hospitals are "filling up" is completely normal for this time of year.

2. The most alarming thing they're seeing right now are folks who come in with very serious late stage diseases because they've been avoiding going to the doctor for the last 8 months. Some doctors would take only the most serious cases - no preventative screenings or regular check-ups for the last 8 months. So now there is a tidal wave of folks showing up with late stage cancers and other serious illnesses that would've normally been caught early on in any other year. Covid really isn't that big a deal right now compared to the other issues that are being inflated by media induced fear.
