    The Last Lighthouse Keeper: A Memoir, by John Cook and Jon Bauer

    - on account of my Mom was a lighthousekeeper's daughter as a child and later became a lighthouse keeper's wife - all in New Zealand. This book is set in Tasmania, Australia, in a later period than my Mom lived. I just started the book, and its more than a bit grim.
