    Canaan Mountain

I wondered if anyone would like to do a 1-night backpack on to Canaan Mountain nr Colorado City on Oct 24/25. The whole mountain top has many colourful hoodoos & domes, & Water Canyon Arch. I was thinking of ascending via Squirrel Canyon as i've heard it's great in Fall & seeing the hoodoos around 'Monument Dome', east of the White Wave. I have been to the White Wave before (& west of it) before so I'm happy to see that, or skip that. There are great views of Zion and the place was particularly beautiful at sunrise and sunset last time..
On day 2 after sunrise I would head back down either Water Canyon or Squirrel canyon. There’s nothing technical, but it would be handy to have 2-3 people with navigation/GPS skills, or who have been up there before, since it can be a little tricky locating the rim point to descend down. It will be quite tough as we have to take all our water.

(I've also posted separately on this forum about a 3-day backpack to Cape Solitude and Comanche Point on the Grand Canyon. I have permits)
