Mtb Crash on Brim Trail, nasty wound

This was unfortunate, it's hard to see what happened but it may have been his back wheel catching the rock and bouncing him off. We think his arm ran into my chain and sliced it open, which is ironic because he's got a bike chain tattoo which was cut now. It was a fairly nasty cut on his right arm, taking a big chunk of skin off.

I watched with the sound off.

At first I was relieved when I saw you were dialing life flight. But then at the end there was no helicopter, and you just sent him packing with your dirty bandana wrapped around his arm.

Cool that he took full responsibility. Sucks that it happened and glad he's OK.
    Are we there yet?

Ha! That's awesome, man! Now he has a real scar...from a chain, no less! To go along with that tattoo.

I watched the crash...looks like he laid on the front brake.
Suddenly my feet are feet of mud
    It all goes slo-mo
    I don't know why I am crying
    Am I suspended in Gaffa?

Not really sure how he managed to get that whacky. It happens to the best of us.

I've watched the crash in slow-mo, full screen, .25X speed and it's still hard to see what happened. Now I can see his left pedal was down and clipped the rock and it threw his back wheel up.

Alright, I zoomed in and slowed down, it's pretty clear his left pedal hit the rock.

Why didn't he slow down way sooner?

He came around the corner, saw you, and kept barreling forward top speed. Kinda deserves what he got doncha think?

For some reason it didn't feel like that at the time, maybe the camera makes him appear to go faster, closer. But I felt we both had plenty of room for a normal pass.

Was it your chain or the teeth on your crank that cut him?

Should have made a disc brake branding to cauterize the wound...

he thought it was the derailleur but I couldn't see any blood or skin on it. I also thought my pedal because it has some sharp shoe pegs, but still no sign. So I looked at the chain afterwards and it's right there, it just seems like the most likely. If you run your arm across the chain for 16 inches, it could do the job. Not sure though, but there just wasn't any other sign.

    Gnarly beef, man.

Last significant crash I had was a little more than 2 years ago. Broke a couple ribs.

There are two types of MTB riders in the world... Those who have visited the emergency room and those that will visit the emergency room.

I’ve clipped my pedal several times and had close calls. One time I went down hard from it and messed up my shoulder. It also knocked the wind out of me. I wasn’t going fast, but it can throw you off quick.
