Fornication will no longer be illegal in Utah
SALT LAKE CITY — The Utah State Legislature is making sex outside of marriage legal.
In a bill cleaning up Utah’s criminal code, lawmakers repealed the misdemeanor crime of fornication. The House passed Senate Bill 43 on a 41-32 vote. It previously passed the Utah State Senate and now goes to Governor Gary Herbert for his signature or veto.
The legislature previously passed a bill removing adultery and sodomy among consenting adults as crimes in Utah. Rep. Paul Ray, R-Clearfield, said court rulings have found the laws are unenforceable and it was time to remove them from the books.
The bill wasn’t popular with some of the more conservative members of the Utah House of Representatives. Rep. Merrill Nelson, R-Grantsville, said he objected. So did Rep. Keven Stratton, R-Orem.
“What is legally is often far below what is morally right,” Rep. Stratton said. “And I recognize our laws are not strong enough to rule a immoral people.”

I'll bet it was 3.2% whiskey
Rockwell sent for a bottle of Valley Tan Whiskey and he and Burton drank shot for shot into the night with Rockwell outlining steps that Burton should take for safety during his passage to Sacramento.I'm not Spartacus

03-07-2019, 08:33 AM #12In 1830, at 16 years old,[3]Rockwell wasbaptizedinto theChurch of Christ(original name of the church founded by Smith) in Fayette, western New York.[4]Historically, the date of Porter's baptism has been associated with April 6, the day the church was organized, but more recent access to original documents suggests a probable date of June 9.[5]Rockwell has been named as the youngest member of the first group to be baptized into the church.
So porter owned a bar, drank whiskey and killed folks, personally all ok but this was said at his funeral
At Rockwell's funeral, apostle Joseph F. Smith, nephew of Joseph Smith and future church president, spoke the following about Porter:"They say he was a murderer; if he was he was the friend of Joseph Smith and Brigham Young, and he was faithful to them, and to his covenants, and he has gone to Heaven and apostates can go to Hell ... Porter Rockwell was yesterday afternoon ushered into Heaven clothed with immortality and eternal life, and crowned with all glory which belongs to a departed saint. He has his little faults but Porter's life on earth, taken altogether, was one worthy of example, and reflected honor upon the church. Through all his trials he had never once forgotten his obligations to his brethren and his God"
So I don't think it would be good for the church to speak out in favor of murder but surely Porter enjoyed tipping a few back and was revered by the church, can drinking alcoholic beverages be called bad by the church
I'm so confused..

Create a task force is political speak for bury this idea so it will never see the light of day again. And for the record the task force is supposed to be comprised of those on the health committee in this particular case.
It appears 6% beer is heading for a citizens initiative on the 2020 ballot, which when passed will immediately get watered down (Haha, see what I did there) by a new law just passed by the legislature. See the medical marijuana vote if you want to see how this will eventually play out.

Just for the record. Joseph Smith's home in Nauvoo was a two story. Joseph and his wife lived on the second floor. The first floor was a saloon, which they owned and operated.

The fact that this was law in the first place is unsurprising. Lots of dumb old laws on the books throughout the country from a different time. What is sad though is that 32 reps voted against it. 32 dipshits who no doubt love to yammer on about limited government and individual responsibility while thinking the gov should decide who I get to bone.
