    BYU Football 2019

Welcome to the BYU Football thread.....

Apparently, the cats are jumping the ship as many players have applied to transfer away from BYU. Aside from that, the first Spring training saw 10 quarterbacks sign up.

    BYU Football 2019

Independence has not been good for BYU in creating relevance or advancing the goal of P5 inclusion. Haven't beaten your rival or finished even one season in the AP top 25 as an independent. And that's just scratching the surface.

    How many wins?

    vs Utah
    at Tennessee
    vs USC
    vs Washington
    at Toledo
    at USF
    vs Boise State
    at USU
    vs Liberty
    vs Idaho State
    at UMass
    at San Diego State

    6 - 6 will be BYU's 2019 record.

    That’s my guess too.

BYU will squeak into a minor bowl somewhere as their backend is loaded with glorified high school teams.

Yo BYU, you're not Notre Dame... get on your hands and knees and beg the MWC to take you back so you can become relevant again.

My guess is 5-7. The front end of their schedule is gonna be one long losing streak. I think they'll go 0-4 before they maybe get a win.

5-7 was my first thought, but BYU will win one they shouldn't and once again send hopes and dream soaring in Cougar Town and talks of a major bowl and national ranking.

My question is which of the big boy's will BYU manage to knock off? Right now I'm thinking USC is a possibility. They get USC at altitude and at home, not to mention USC is currently just a mid tier PAC 12 team.

I don't know what Pat Kinahan is smoking, but BYU going to the ACC is a flat out terrible idea. It's the ACC - Atlantic Coast Conference. The travel to get out there would be taxing on BYU players, and none of the ACC teams would want to make that trip out west.

Also counting against BYU is the fact that BYU won't play on Sunday plus BYU's LGBDQ policies aren't in line with those in place outside Provo.

Bad idea. BYU needs to just eat some humble pie and go back to the MWC.

Well, you may want to re-read the article. It is actually the AAC or the AMERICAN ATHLETIC Conference and most games would be played one time zone away. Also, it would be for football only. I actually think this is equal to or maybe even better than the MWC. Interesting concept to mull over. Follow the money on this decision. Independence still makes more financial sense than the MWC.

Hmmmm...not convinced. More financial sense because of the ESPN money? That train can't last too much longer, and then what?

I think BYU would jump at the chance to join the ACC.

The AAC on the other hand isn’t nearly as sexy...

Hopefully the Utes are not believing all the hype.

Ya because you know BYU is.

I think this game carries a decent probability for an upset. At this point Utes players have heard all the hype and might be lulled into a false sense of superiority, thinking that all they have to do is walk onto the field and they'll win.

Meanwhile it's all hands on deck in Cougartown, with everybody working, thinking, and praying for that upset.

Hopefully the Utes don't succumb to their own hubris.

If any of y'all are in Cougartown on game day at noon, stop by my office parking lot for a burger and/or a hot dog on me. Yes, it is a pregame tailgate party of sorts for clients, and yes, we are cougar fans, but hey, I'll still feed the Utes. My law firm is Fillmore Spencer, 3301 N. University Ave., Provo. It is about a mile north of Lavell Edwards Stadium. I will be one of the guys at the grill. Seriously, we will even feed people on Bogley.

Dang that would be sweet to eat a burger with a bunch of rabid cougar fans. Seriously though, I’ll be in the safe confines of my basement watching it on TV. I would stop over for sure if I was going to the game.

Are y'all going to the game after the BBQ? Or going to someone's house to watch it? I'm really tempted to bridge the gap between Ute and Cougar and make an appearance, but I also want to be in front of a screen in time for kickoff and there's no way that could happen since I live in North Ogden.
