    Is This a Scam?

I have a car listed on KSL for sale. I have it listed for $2,000. I'm expecting to get $1,500 for it. Anyway, it has a somewhat desirable engine so I've been getting quite a few texts about it since I put it up yesterday afternoon. Here's one text thread I got. I'm pretty sure it's a scam but, I don't sell a lot of stuff, especially cars. What do you think?

    (561 area code)

Hello, is your vehicle still for sale?
    Me: Yes
What's the condition and best asking price?
Me: Overall the condition is good. Read the description on KSL. Lowest I'd go is $1,800.
I am OK with it and am ready to purchase it. I am a Sgt. in the US military. I am currently deployed. I'd like to see more recent photos if you still have. If not, then lets proceed.

How should I respond? Maybe I should send him this photo and say this is the most recent photo I have, haha!

The 561 area code might just be a cell phone. My wife still maintains the Moab area code on her phone from when we used to live there 7 years ago.

Send him some newer pics and see what happens. Let's get some more data...

Just tell him your price is for cash in hand and the first person that shows up at your door with cash will buy the car.

None of the scams work if you exchange cash for goods.

The scams all work by manipulating the electronic exchange of funds. It's the modern day version of writing a bad check.

I own some condos that I rent, manage and maintain myself. Any applicant that has even the SLIGHTEST trace of drama to them is blown off.

Just ignore this dude. Your local cash buyer will show up.

This. I sell quite a bit of stuff on KSL and I quote Randy Moss any time something seems off. "Straight Cash Homie!"

Haha! I don't have the time to drag this dude out too long so I texted him the George Costanza photo and said, "This is the most recent photo I have". About 5 minutes later I sent another text, "Oh, you mean a photo of the car! Sorry, dude. I will only deal in person and with cash".

Currently selling a few vintage furniture items on KSL from my late Aunt's estate...

I listed a pretty nice vintage record player/radio/8-track player for $400, and today I get this text telling me they'd like to send a Cashier's Check for the amount plus an extra $50 for shipping. He allegedly lives in New York....

How are the KSL classifieds so popular in New York?

I'm thinking to just insist on cash. I mentioned in the ad that I would accept cash or venmo only, but that part was ignored apparently.

I've heard about this scam. Cash or Venmo, period.

I've learned that if they stray outside the most basic lines, they're jacked up.

Demand a phone number and miraculously you're speaking with a man

It seems odd that you would even have to make a public post and ask

Ya'll should notice there is no question in my post. I wasn't asking what I should do. I was just tryin' to contribute to the other scam posts in this thread.

    Sheesh...
