OK -- I know that it's probably a long shot to squeeze a serious discussion in here amongst all the memes and jokes, but please humor me for a second. All kidding and name calling aside, what is the appeal to socialism?
This is not a rhetorical question.
Seriously, can somebody give me an objective reason why socialism is so attractive and so in vogue lately? Is this just a lack of knowledge about history and semi-recent human events? Or is it just blatant denial? I'm puzzled as to why anyone who claims to be intelligent would want to encourage leading our country into that quagmire. It's only "science" if it supports the narrative.

The short answer is socialism offers the promise of what appears to be instant gratification and/or security. So perhaps you can see why it would appeal to the everyone gets a trophy generation.
Those offering socialism also fail to mention the iron fist that is always buried in the velvet glove. Meaning how do you pay for it or what personal freedoms do you surrender to obtain it.
One thing to always remember is socialism has never worked, never even once, not even one exception.

1. The powerful have rigged a system and stolen wealth and locked everyone out.
2. A deep selfishness to get something for nothing.
3. Once a govt program for xyz is in place, it would be easy to trick and steal from.
4. Utopian belief that all people should be equal in every regard.
5. Anger and/or jealousy toward those more successful, with wealth confiscation being the deserved punishment.
6. Money for socialist programs will come from those you despise.
7. Life will be easier with more govt money/programs available.

Great input guys.
Still crazy to me that in spite of so many bad examples of socialism in the world, they would still consider giving it another go.It's only "science" if it supports the narrative.

She's totally lost it. As part of her Green New Deal she wants to get rid of "farting cows"?
From the Green New Deal FAQ: "We set a goal to get to net-zero, rather than zero emissions, in 10 years because we aren’t sure that we’ll be able to fully get rid of farting cows and airplanes that fast."

No more airplanes, huh. Sorry, but the cat's out of the bag on that one. What the heck is even happening anymore that people voted for her?

Totally off topic but, why do posts automatically insert random hyperlinks for words that have have nothing to do with the word?

Now the hyperlink is gone but, when I first posted my comment above, Green New Deal was hyperlinked to a green throw pillow. I didn't click or enter to hyperlink it to anything. Does it do that to anyone else?
