Thanksgiving Dinner in the St. George area

I have a group of 6 of us flying out from Cincinnati and staying in LaVerkin for Thanksgiving week to do some hiking in the area and we realized that we hadn't planned anything for Thanksgiving Dinner. Was wondering if anyone in the local area had any suggestions for Dinner? Is there any restaurants open or should we head down to Mesquite and try one of the casino buffets?

We we also thinking about stopping at the grocery in Mesquite (if it's open) and picking up food we can cook ourselves (we have a full kitchen).

    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    Thanks

I've done the buffet dinner in Mesquite for Thanksgiving before. It's good food, and likely the best bet you've got for some turkey and mashed potatoes for the holiday. There's not much happening in St. George that day.

At least that's been my experience.

I'd 2nd this... I can't think of a decent locally own restaurant, it's all the usual chains. It's been a bit since I've been down there though but you won't go wrong hitting Mesquite.

I would do the buffet too, but if you decide to cook, there is a Walmart in Hurricane.

Hi Jeff: I can recommend the Black Bear Diner in St George, just left off the northbound Bluff St Intersection at I15.

They do the best corned beef I have ever had; all home-done in-house. I can't comment upon their other dishes, because I enjoy the corned beef. I also don't know if they would have space on your dates.

I think it's a small chain, but I was impressed with the quality of the food (March 2018).

Black Bear Dinner has 118 locations in 10 states, that's a pretty big chain.

The casinos usually have a really good thanksgiving spread as they don't want to lose gamblers because there isn't a traditional meal available to them.

My family had the worst Thanksgiving meal, EVER at the Black Bear Diner in Barstow, CA on our way to my daughter's soccer tournament last year. The St. George one may be fine. I can say that I won't repeat Thanksgiving at the Black Bear.

I've never ate Thanksgiving dinner at Chuck A Rama in St. George, but that's where I'd go if it were me. Call to make sure they are doing Turkey this year though.

I can vouch for the Black Bear Diner in St George, I've been there several times myself. Their portions are huge and the bread is always served warm.

Soooo where did y'all end up?

It's only "science" if it supports the narrative.
