Boys Trapped in Cave
As someone who has done a fair amount of caving and is also a certified rescue diver I can only imagine to complexity of trying to rescue the 12 boys trapped in the Thai cave. If they don't kill someone by the time this is all said and done I'll be amazed... I wish them luck.

For anyone following this Wikipedia has by far the best and most accurate account of what's actually going on, probably because it's constantly being updated and corrected by people that actually understand what they are talking about and not your typical desk jockey journalist.... only downside is you have to keep re-reading the page to see the additions and corrections. As an engineer, diver and occasional caver I find this rather fascinating.

I was stunned when they found all of them alive. I don't have your expertise but still find this fascinating and am praying for the best for these boys. I Read an article today about the coach and how he use to be a monk and this is a positive because of his calm influence on the boys and meditation skills. This article also mentioned how close they are because of the varios adventure activities they do together.

I hate to say I called it, but I knew with the complexity of this rescue it was only a matter of time before they killed someone...

Dang I wonder if they are keeping his death a secret from the boys.

I'll guess they are keeping it secert as the boys already have enough on their plate.
This death should show how dangerous this really is when one of the most highly trained individuals in the world (Thai navy SEAL) dies. And now they want to bring out untrained divers who don't know how to swim. Don't be surprised when more lives are lost.

Sadly I agree with you. This story is not going to end well...the boys might make it out. But I don't see it happening without more tragedy.
Options are have boys swim out = someone dying they lack experience.
Pumping enough water out they can walk/swim/fight a current= long shot
Wait it out=they still need supplies and that means more under water diving in a cave! And October is a long ways off to be under ground that long in a dark damp place.
Possible back door = fairy-tale ending
I can't imagine being one of those parents.

Tough situation for sure. I'm pretty sure they will not be just leaving them there though without trying.

So the diver that died was taking oxygen to the boys because that chamber the oxygen level has fallen to 15%....
I thought he was setting up oxygen, in stages, in order to eventually get them out. Not taking it in directly to them to keep them alive until they figure out how to get them out.
Optimal range for oxygen is 19.5-23.5%. I wonder what the CO2 levels are in that cave.

Read another article they have an air supply line.
So are they going to successfully divert enough water to get them out sooner than October...or provide enough supplies until the water subsides?
And if they stay will they be able to maintain health enough to make it to October?

I'll bet dollars to donuts they brought the 4 strongest boys out first. Still a long ways to go...

The mission has now been paused for at least 10 hours as air tanks need to be replaced.
