    more vandalism

Some visitors at this Utah state park are prying up dinosaur tracks imprinted in the sandstone and throwing them into a nearby reservoir

more vandalism ... folks need to teach their children better (and i'm sure not all the vandalism at this site is due to kids).

Install trail cameras. Start enforcing the laws. It seems like even when people are caught red handed they're let off with a slap on the wrist.
It's only "science" if it supports the narrative.

OK the title was somewhat clickbait. After reading the story, it turns out that a kid was throwing rocks into the water, and one of the rocks that were saved had some toe prints on them. This title leads us to believe that dinosaur tracks were being sought out and destroyed, which was a wee bit overboard.

Lots of details missing on this account told by Hansen, for sure, like what did the kid say when he was shown the tracks on the rock he was about to throw.

Yes it's still bad, just like scratching names and dates into rock walls, but sometimes the story may not be as the title describes. I'm very interested in more details on this one.

what about this part that mentions it's more than just the one kid?

Many of the tracks are noticeable walking through the landscape. But plenty are not. At least 10 of the larger, more visible footprints, which range from 3 to 17 inches, disappeared in the past six months. Chavez said that’s a conservative estimate.
