no pictures, went out with the gps to find treasures in the mountains, with grandkids.

this geocaching thing will never catch on, it makes people get off couches and leave houses.

Saturday morning was awful. Not only did the sun come out in a big way and make it really hard to see without squinting and giving you a headache from the eye strain, it was also nice and warm without being too hot. I hate days like that.

For some reason (probably mental illness), I drug my butt out of bed early and went to check on the beavers just south of Mantua. I've never seen them so busy in all the 25 years I've been riding my bike up there. In one spot, they've plugged up the pipes that go under the road and dammed up the stream so that it flows right over the road.

A buddy and me pedaled our bikes up to the rock alter in Provo Canyon, Saturday. It was a real ugly day with perfectly blue skies, no clouds and warm weather. Who wants any of that? Plus, our bikes got dust on them. Horrible day.

From this morning's hike in the Swell...cut short when a mountain lion started screaming at me about 50' away.

    Stupid lions. I hate hiking...

Breaking trail and hitting fresh snow is horrible. Reaching a peak that shouldn't be accessible this time of year is even worse!

We staged in Marysvale, rode South to Circleville and got up to about 10,000' breaking snow trail. The last photo (fresh snow) was on the Pahvant Range, somewhere North of Joseph/I-70..

Camp tonight in BFE Nevada along the BDR. Right on the California/Nevada border. What the hell are we thinking? Cell coverage too. Major WTF...

setting up camp at what turned out to NOT be the near-to-Cow-Tank location. If you look closely you can see our not-patented adjustable height camp table. the next day the wind came up fit to bust and stayed that way for 48 hours - we hate the outdoors!

As I am drawn deeper and deeper into my psychotic state I find myself leaving the security of the civilized world and the comfort of my home, dragging other into that most horrid and treacherous... Outdoors....

Gavin, my 7 year old grandson is still innocent and
naive about the revolting true character of nature...today he witnessed events that should help him to become fully aware of the random and senseless indifference that nature has towards him and mankind.

The weather has been so awful this past week. I mean who really likes 80 degree temps, blue skies and sunshine, anyway? Horrible. It forced me to go up AF Canyon every evening and again Saturday morning to do volunteer trailwork. I cleared and did drainage control on about 15 miles of trail. Terrible. Hiking on these beautiful rugged mountain trails just sucks. Not sure why but, a buddy even wanted to tag along Saturday morning and we stopped long enough to take this view photo. Awful week.
