Elon Musk Falcon Heavy to launch tomorrow 6 Feb 2018

With Elon Musk's Tesla Roadster allegedly as payload playing Life on Mars!
1830 UTC time Feb 6th. I think that makes it 1130 in Utah. Anyway, 1330 Florida time.

but lots of other links on your favourite search engine.
I have to take my hat off to him for "getting it done", as Iceaxe would say.
Musk is now reaping the financial rewards of his investments in what has been a great risk.

I used to support Titan IV launches out of LC-40...just down the beach. Those were big payloads.

Besides the launch, what will be amazing is the attempted triple landing. "Of course I still love you"...hilarious. Floating landing pad. Still hard to get my head around.

    Looking forward to it. Thanks!

That was nothing short of Totally Awesome!!!!

    Wow!

I thought the two side boosters were supposed to be 15 seconds apart for landing, but landing them together was just great!

Agreed. Thanks for posting the links to the video. That was great. I watched the animation and scoffed a bit at how ambitious it was. I have to admit that seeing the two motors land like that made me smile.

Why are we launching a car to Mars? Because our boss has a lot of money and he wants to. That's why!

    Wow...simul landing...crazy!

    2 out of 3 ain't bad...

No word on the core vehicle...."of course I still love you"...well...maybe they had a spat...

They cut the feed off the core fairly early...my guess is no attempt was made.

Someone knows...was hoping for a twitter feed update or something...

I remember seeing the first rocket landing, I thought it was fake, impossible.

That simul-landing, though! What a time to be alive!

Suddenly NASA looks old and out of date...
It's only "science" if it supports the narrative.

This could make that guys net worth actually soar to Mars. NASA is outdated plus funding is always an issue.

I work for a defense contractor and our group watched it in a conference room. It was amazing to say in the least...

    About that core though...

Either way we will find out via a press conference tonight from Elon.

Their live feed of the core was cut...

The video feed of the launch control folks have a voice that says, "center core landing burn has start up"...followed by "we lost the center core" about 9 seconds later.

I think it splashed into the ocean.

Which contractor? (PM if you want).

I used to support Titan IVB from ATK at CCAFS and VAFB. Good times. I kinda miss wings at Frankies and the 'gators behind our building. Still have my expired base badges...
