Niki should have died in 1976, so he lived a long while on borrowed time.

If you have never seen the movie "Rush" I suggest you watch it, as it's excellent. The movie follows the careers of James Hunt and Niki Lauda through the years until their epic duel for the 1976 Formula 1 World Championship. The movie is very accurate as far as movies go. Niki even commented they got the movie 80% correct and James couldn't comment as he was already dead.

FWIW: I met Niki once in 1982 in the garage at the Las Vegas Grand Prix. Somehow I managed to spend an hour with both team McLaren and Ferrari at 9:00 the night before the F1 helping them rebuild race cars. This was also Mario Andretti's last F1 race and he drove a third car for Ferrari. I've met Mario several times and he is one of the nicest and most accomodating people you will ever meet. I also got to meet Paul Newman that night, it was an pretty spectacular night for a 24 y/o gearhead like me. My mother was so dam jealous when she found out I spent time and ate dinner with Paul Newman at the race.

There are old race car drivers and there are bold racer car drivers, but there are no old bold race car drivers.

    Lee Iacocca dead at 94.

Auto industry icon Lee Iacocca -- forever connected to the Ford Mustang and former chairman of Chrysler -- has died ... according to a family source.

A family member tells TMZ Iacocca passed away, but could not provide any further detail.

Iacocca is credited with saving Chrysler from bankruptcy back in the 1980s ... and he's often referred to as the father of the legendary Ford Mustang. While he was always known within the auto industry ... he became a household name across America when he starred in a series of TV advertisements for Chrysler. [/i]

Perot was such a good man. A great patriot. Supported Trump. Helped veterans behind the scenes. So much he did for POWs. As a pundit said, "If Trump is Jesus for the middle class masses, then Perot was John the Baptist."
