05/26/17 - Rocky Mouth Canyon Waterfall, Sandy, UT

Rocky Mouth Canyon waterfall located in Sandy, Utah.

Brrrrr! I believe our count on rapping these falls is now about 7+ and so this time we timed the 4 of us including the approach, the rappel, and exit turned out to be an hour and 5mins from car to car! Not to shabby for an after-work adventure! You don't always need a weekend to do something quick like this.

The approach is very short (10mins) and the hike to the base of the falls (10-15mins) is what is so appealing about this sport route. It's a great one to practice some Class C action in-between May and June, followed by a small stream to trickle in the later months. The later months would be a good beginner route where there is a small amount of flow but not overflowing like we experienced in May.

As this is a popular area, people may not know when you yell "rope", so please use "i'm throwing a rope down, watch out!" instead or something similar. And try not to loiter or linger more than you need too. Hikers don't want to wait an hour or more for everyone in your group to descend. Have lots of fun! But use common decency and show respect for others, please.
