I remember my first fish. I actually caught it with my hands. In 1971 my crazy, heroin addicted just came back from Vietnam Uncle Luigi came to live with us in Oxnard, CA.

There are these fish, I think they're called "Grunyions" or something like that, they wash up with the waves and bury themselves into the wet sand. People scoop them up and fill buckets. My uncle cooked all those fish and they tasted like shit. I recall that being a profound witness of waste, as all those fish went into the trash.

I wish I had a video of that night we caught those fish. Lucky you being able to get that with your son.
