    Fat Man's Splashpark

Knocked out Fat Man's last Friday --- the day after Zion got slammed with heavy monsoonal rains. Everything was wet, and every dent and dimple was full of water. If you're not swimming/wading through water, then you're swimming/wading through quicksand. This is a great canyon to do when full of water as it was a splash park the entire way through. Parunuweap more resembled Muddy Creek than the usual clear trickle. The day started out overcast but cleared out just in time for that really fun slog back to the car.

Nice pics! Looks like a lot of fun!

How was the spot that used to be the miserable obstacle for fatties, then not so miserable, then it became very hazardous with loose boulders?

Maybe it's not an issue anymore?

    Where exactly is/was that?

One thing I noticed was that it's very apparent that beta sources have a difficult time keeping up with the dynamic nature of this canyon. The beta we had claimed there were three rappels. We rappelled at least four times, and hand-lined down just as many more. So...many more drops than most beta sources claim. And there were numerous places where bolts had clearly been yanked. In one spot there was a bicycle lock wrapped around a boulder being used as an anchor. At that same spot there were a couple of squares of carpet scattered about for whatever reason. Not sure why. Reduce friction on the rope? Seemed utterly ridiculous.
