I can't speak to the motivation (religious or not) but I do know that in comparison to many other countries, our DUI laws are pretty lax.

But...BUT....this goes against my opinion that Mormons are limiting my freedoms in this state, even though I have almost no experience living in other states but I really want to think of myself as being more open minded than the Mormons here.

Can we please not get distracted from our tendency to think that religion has made Utah less tolerant? It makes me feel better.

Speed and aggressive driving is the biggest killer on Utah's roads -- NOT alcohol.

What's frustrating is the cold hard facts show that aggressive driving + speed are responsible for the most deaths on Utah's roads - by a large margin. But Herb and company are gonna turn a blind eye to those facts and continually demonize alcohol.
