Indeed...I'm especially baffled by the behavior of the so-called "hippies", or whatever they call themselves these days. They were filthy beggars then, and they're filthy beggars now. On the islands of Hawaii (I visit and backpack/hike there frequently) they "live off the land" (when they're not asking for food, money or a ride somewhere) and make an absolute mess. They devastate the coconuts, built fires where they're not allowed (in National Parks, no less!) and kill more fish than they can eat before it rots. Year after year, I've run into dozens of these people leaving behind a total mess when the backpackers like me leave nothing but footprints. Not just in Hawaii, but Tahiti too.
Suddenly my feet are feet of mud
It all goes slo-mo
I don't know why I am crying
Am I suspended in Gaffa?
