Couple of Fall hikes in Northern Arizona

As usual I'm a little behind in getting everything together. This Fall we did a couple hikes that providing some excellent fall colors.

The first was Weatherford trail in Flagstaff. Normally we do Inner Basin, but the traffic there has become insane so we seeked out another alternative to viewing the Aspen. Weatherford is an Alternative rout up to Humphreys peak. We obviously didn't do the 10.5 miles to the top, but just wanted to enjoy the Aspens. This trail also leads you into the Kachina Peaks Wilderness.

Next was West Fork of Oak Creek in Sedona. This is an old favorite that also gets very busy during fall, but it is worth it. We always hit up the Peaks trails (Flagstaff) earlier in the season since they are higher elevation. The Sedona area tends to start chaning colors mid-late Oct. We actually were probably a a week or so early for peak time, but still some good color. Another thing about Sedona is the variety of color, its not just aspen, so you get reds, oranges, and yellows. This is part of the Red Rock - Sceret Mountain Wilderness.
