Wire Pass, Paria Canyon from above

Back in 2008, I walked into some Utah canyons in a small way, as a reasonably naiive Brit, starting with Wire Pass, Buckskin Gulch and the wider Paria Canyon complex (and later, through the great help and time of persons here at Bogley, I have since progressed to using a rope and a harness)

In May 2016, I flew over Wire Pass and The Wave while I was enjoying my other hobby in a 1946 vintage aeroplane.

It is surprisingly difficult to identify particular canyons from the air, despite using GPS and Google Earth as helpers (after wards), and despite the fact that I am only 1000' above the ground. What also surprised me, was that the Wave is almost invisible, unless you know where to look.

In the above picture of Wire Pass, I have identified the GE location:

It was great flying over some of the places I have visited on foot. Next April I hope to fly over Utah and Arizona again.

    Rob in the UK.

As an aside, last week (Sept 2016) I took my same 1946 aeroplane past the "canyons" of New York City, but I think NYC is outside of the scope of "Canyoneering" here.
